I don't see what is wrong with sushi pizza other than cheese and missing sushi rice not to duplicate starches. To each their own, though. There's a lot of good fusion sushi out there. I like this place in Miami called Sushi Maki with a good deal of fusion. Another joint in town makes excellent cuban style sushi with maduros that works. Chimmichurri steak on a roll is nearly a beef negamaki and has yummy garlic.

In the US, to be sure, seafood on a pizza is kind of more rare, because we're not all dining somewhere we'd get fresh seafood other than canned clams or some shrimp, but when you can indeed get blue crabs or lobster or stone crab claws, then you do it!

They're known to be terrific entrepreneurs and enterprising. Successful community of hard workers. I wouldn't say they are well known for cuban cuisine, but they run great companies of every type, the least of which are restaurants. They are more "professional" and educated career types. They're pretty much the only immigrant community that helps itself out right into a network of upward mobility upon arrival in the US.

In the case of Miami, there are FEW southeast asians, very few. It is an extension of latin america with some euros thrown in. Asia, not so much. There's really not that many mexicans as much as caribbean and south american descent, too. Since there is a lack of chinese that aren't actually by way of latin american chinese, you'll see a lot of fusion. Also, there is the swimsuit season diet of low carb, clean eating and other diets. Sushi caught on very very early in Miami and stayed that way. You'll always see the one roll, if anything, like this Calle Ocho roll at Sushi Maki.
