After years of eating meat, I think I have to regress to vegetarianism.

As a kid, I stayed at my aunties farm constantly, and have gotten to know the quirks of animals very well. The seemingly high as fuck chickens (especially the one that got a broken neck by being kicked by a bull, and I had to kill as a child cos adults were gone), the pigs that keep walking into things (especially the one that bombarded our barbeque and knocked it over lmao, fuckin mint), and possibly my personal favourite, the cows. You sit in a field chilling, the cows pay no attention, you look away for 5 seconds and they're 15 feet closer to you, they sneak up on you with no visible interest, trying to not let you realize, until they're on top of you. CUTE!

The farm was a mess though. Animals not treated very well, completely covered in mud and shit, locked away in varying sectors. I just can't let myself have my buddies go through that for me to eat them.

Part of it was hearing that people eat rabbit... after I had rabbit pets. To think the little fluffy things that I got used to thumping around, sniffing me and trying to get into little holes, are like the rabbits that get shot and eaten. T.T

Clearly it's a generalization, but it's mostly true.

Herbivorous animals tend to need to keep a low profile to avoid predators. As a result their bodies are designed to have a minimum amount of natural musk or scent, and that's a good thing because it doesn't taint the meat.

Carnivorous animals tend to have strong scent glands, either to mark territory or communicate with others in the group. Dogs do both of these things. The presence of those glands tends to taint the meat.

Of course there are exceptions--Tuna, IMHO, being the biggest one. But for land mammals the trend of herbivores tasting good vs. carnivores tasting bad is fairly true.
