I like to cook but I hate leftovers. I live alone and I was wondering if anyone had any tips to keep me from just buying fast food. I'm getting really tired of Pizza Hut.

I know how that is, I'm not a huge fan of leftovers myself. One, just try to portion your food better before you cook it. Two, heat up any leftovers you do have with the stove or oven if you're using a microwave, it just has so much of a better texture when it hasn't been through a microwave. Might help you find them more pleasant at least.

Most prepackaged foods are priced, especially meats, are priced for families. Find a butcher, make him or her your friend and ask for half pounds or less depending on how much you like to eat.

I'm not saying stores are bad (other people will) but the portions are just high if you're single and don't like leftovers. The only other option is to give away your leftovers to co-workers or friends or family if you're feeling altruistic, but you're still paying for it.

Unless you're on NEETbux and have the spare time to cook every meal you eat when you're ready to eat it you gotta learn to love leftovers.

Plan your meal for the week and only buy the required ingredients.

What is a refrigerator?
What is a freezer?
How could one possibly portion out their own food?

But I'm with you OP, mostly. >>9130226 is full of shit. Cooking is something you can learn to do efficiently. I don't mind leftovers, but that's aside the point. You might look at investing in a rice cooker. They're good for making smaller portions of rice, beans, lentils, or soup. I have a wok for the first time ever and I really like using it because it's easier to make small portions of things pretty quickly. To save time you can also cut your veggies and meat into smaller sizes so they cook quicker if that's your concern.
Other than these things I'm unsure why making less food at once would be an issue.

Also, >>9130238 apparently doesn't socialize at work. Several of my coworkers have appreciated not having to fuck with making their own lunch.

what I usually do is cook a couple different things and then alternate the leftovers. like I'll make curry on sunday and eat it again on tuesday and thursday, make tacos on monday, use what's left of that to make nachos on wednesday, and then get only get takeout on friday and saturday.
