How many slices of cheese make for the best grilled cheese?
Also, do you butter the pan or the bread? I find it always comes out better when you butter the bread itself

When you put the butter in the pan, you have to move the sandwich around a little when you first put it in to ensure an even coating.

always butter the bread
and I dont use slices of cheese, I'm always shredding me some chess when I need to cook grilled cheese.

Two.

But I like three. My wife and many others tell me three is too much.

With the stick of butter, I draw the shape of the bread on the hot skillet very fast and lay the bread on the puddle. I do it again for the other side. This makes for a brown, even surface that is dry when done. I use salted for grilled cheese.

The only time when this is the correct answer.

Nope. Not even then. Just use cheddar or monterey jack. Throw your American """"cheese"""" in the trash. Next you'll be telling me Wonderbread is best for grilled cheese too.

Can somebody explain to me what's wrong with fake cheese, even if it is fake cheese?

Authenticity is a meme, culture is a meme, language is a meme, give it up. If something works, it works, it's that simple.

Emulsifying in even more oil than normal to make a cheese that has the texture of the innards of a stretch armstrong toy, that after it melts immediately goes back to its original texture if not kept very hot, is fuck gross.

This idea right here is what has lead to America's stagnation and decay. We let ourselves half-ass everything because "it works". It's fucking lazy and disgusting.

It isn't the gake cheese that has something wrong with it, per se. However, a nation filled with people that accept it over real cheese has something very wrong with it at it's fundamental core.

Pleb

Use a thin layer of crumbled Gouda or Manchego and butter the bread not the pan

Calm down fucker. We commonly griddle our sandwiches here, or at least the bread. We're not going to call it pan-broiled cheese and there isn't enough fat to justify calling it fried. So it's grilled. Most people don't have a large flattop so calling it griddled cheese would just confuse folk.

The secret to the best grilled cheese is toasting both sides of the bread. Its slightly more work but it comes out extra crispy

Your not a freak. But you are a pleb.

Tomato soup is good. Or if you have a good salsa can become good tier.
