It's an artifact from how IR affects image sensors. Older cameras especially. My 2004-era digital camera used to have purple highlights around a lot of bright light sources. Better filters and modern software reduces the effect.

Crushed black peppercorns have white on the inside. This especially shows when crushed in a mortar, which I do since I don't have a pepper grinder. I don't know what those things are, but they look more like Oreo crumbs than black pepper.

Make sure you know what you're talking about before you try to call someone out like that.
