While making bolognese tonight I chucked in some leftover caponata and added a cup of mezcal on a whim--didn't suck; would consider having it again with some tweaks.

What spur-of-the-moment ingredients have worked out for you /ck/?

Leftover shrimp bisque in a ponchartrain sauce. It was pretty fantastic.

cooked pasta but realised i had no sauce or pesto

put hommus with a bit of olive oil, mushrooms and parsely turned out very edible, i reckon any dip in your fridge can be used as pasta sauces
