I make my own tomato sauces from canned tomatoes because it's easier to by a whole bunch of canned tomatoes that will go into various dishes than buying marked up jars of tomato sauce that are only good for italian pasta dishes.

I tried making sauces from scratch. The tomatoes in my area that were cost-effective to make sauce out of were too acidic and lacked flavor compared to canned varieties.
