As a person who roasts his own beans in small batch, I've realized you have to try a handful of different farms from each country to really have a proper opinion of the region. It's almost impossible to rank regions into tiers, considering different palettes can prefer one region over another. I mean shit, some people prefer one elevation of growth over another within a particular region. You gotta try a lot.

Originally, farmers on Indonesian coffee plantations were the first to consume Kopi Luwak coffee.

Almost all the civet coffee on the market is fake, what isn't fake is farmed (which is still essentially fake in terms of why it was originally such a prized coffee, since the caged animals aren't personally selecting the beans and therefore all you're getting is the digestive aspect), and in either case it's generally factory roasted and ground before it gets to you, so even if it's 100% real it never had a chance. I use a mr. coffee that's about a decade old. It's pretty nice.

I only use the french press when I have guests honestly. The cool thing about my machine is that it has a timer on it, and a sealed bean compartment. You set the timer for the morning and it grinds the beans and automatically starts the water, you just have to clean it and set it up for the next morning. The insulated pot is really fucking nice, I had hot coffee at the ready like 3 hours later. I work from home so it's pretty baller.
