somewhere around 40 hours, stopped being hungry after the first day or so, had a decreased appetite for a couple weeks after, went from being able to house 2 20+ ounce steaks and sides in a sitting to struggling to finish a ~12 ounce one, would not recommend

There was a stretch of time where it basically went:
>forget lunch going to work
>shit hits the fan at work can't go get lunch
>have to stay later than I expected
>had to drive all night for another obligation
>get there shit immediately hits fan
>no time to eat until 4 that night
>at that point I'm not really feeling hungry so I just keep working
>smoking like mad and drinking water
>drive back home
>sit down immediately order pizza
>eat all of it and sleep for 14 hours
All in all I suppose I didn't eat for a little more than 72 hours, definitely didn't feel good, but there was a point where it's like my body just had resigned itself to the fact it wasn't going to get any food, you know as soon as I smelled that pizza grease it was like mana from heaven though.

I did the whole fat person develops eating disorder thing when I went to college. Got the freedom to control my food intake and decided no food was the way to go.
At the longest it was probably a week without actually eating but I would slam down diet sodas and gallons of water to pretend to be full. A few months of actively avoiding eating and I lost weight but it took years to get a normal eating habit again, I'd get full after a fraction of a normal meal and to this day I never got back to 3 full meals but my weight is normal.

The first day you get real hungry and your stomach will rumble and churn. After 3 days you stop being hungry in the same way, more just empty. At five days the pain starts, when your stomach would rumble normally it feels like a knife and you'll be super out of it like you hadnt slept or were drunk.

I doubt that if circumstances had made me skip meals instead of my own choices that I would have been able to handle it, the mental and physical burden is not pleasant.

At this point body looked basically the same. I felt tired and had less energy. I was kinda hungry for the first 6 ish hours after waking up. Then the hunger just sorta faded away.

After the surgery i didn't eat for over 48 hours. Cause of the surgery, I had a scar on my belly. I had visibly lost muscle. I didn't even have the energy to get up and look at myself in the mirror until I ate. I wasn't allowed to drink a lot of water, so throat was dryer than op's nans cunt. It hurt even more cause of breathing tubes they put down your throat. Couldn't concentrate. Obviously couldn't move around much, but that was cause of surgery.

not him but I dont think is just being hungry, mass is pretty boring, if you are a little bit tired your body is fighting your desire to sleep plus you being hungry, I attended a few catholic spiritual retirement, and is basically part of their formula, make you tired, make you hungry, get you sick if they can (using coldwater in activities and then being exposed to the sun) stuff like that, so you are more temperamental, gen angry for something stupid, they make you realize that it was something stupid and there you have, you need Jesus in your life to change your attitude, also easier for you to cry etc etc.

A friend of mine almost committed suicide because of fasting.

He got sick with heavy flu, I can't translate the name in English, but basically was bedridden and had no appetite + diarrhea.

After a few days of eating very little, he lost all appetite and suddenly felt "liberated" from his need to eat. He described it as Ataraxia: the lack of problems, the inner peace.

After about a week and a half of eating pretty much nothing, he started to feel a tinge of hunger, and decided that he'd prefer dying over having to be stuck eating again, like a prisoner of his own needs.

He had to be physically prevented from jumping off the window. Thankfully, most of his muscle mass had been reduced to nothing already. He ended up eating again after the incident.

I was very surprised to hear that story, because the guy is anything but depressed. Does fasting really bring you such big peace of mind that you'd kill yourself rather than lose it, or was he delirious?

Was hospitalised because of being nearly dead, fasted through lunch due to running tests all day, skipped dinner because I was dead tired after being on blood transfusions for 12 hours straight with no sleep and no food for 24 hours. In the morning I fasted through breakfast for one last test then missed lunch by about 10 minutes because I was being transferred to another hospital, where I arrived too late for lunch and turned down the awful packaged cheese/salad sandwich that I was offered. Wasn't even hungry when dinner rolled around but I remembered that you need food to live so I ate it. Also I lowkey didn't want to get put on suicide watch or some shit for skipping meals.

Right now I fast for 16 hours every day, soon I am going to experiment with 48-72 hour fasting as well as the new Fasting Mimicking Diet.

I have noticed several effects in addition to weight loss (45lbs to date). One major thing has been a significant boost to confidence and willpower. My blood glucose and cholesterol levels have also improved.

My mind also feels clearer and more creative when I'm 12 hours or so in to a fast. It could be a placebo effect but it has an evolutionary basis too, the longer you go without food the more creative you have to be to find it.

A long time ago I went a week without shitting and at the week mark, I stopped eating. It was excruciating how the food had become so compacted inside me, and a week after I stopped eating, my mom convinced me to eat some hot mashed potatoes. An hour later, I ran to the toilet and spent 4 hours ejecting shit pudding from my anus... Every time I tried to stand up, more came out. The neighbors were complaining of the smell while this was happening. By the time I was done, The shit chutney was almost at the rim of the toilet. I filled a bucket with toilet paper covered in hot tar shit.

My mom works at a piss and blood lab so I asked her if there was something wrong with my shit. She told me she'd gather some in a tupperware container and bring it in for testing. So I'm standing there, watching her scoop it up with a ladle, retching the whole time. She puts the lid on the container and it is already getting misty in there. I'm fantasizing about her walking in to work with a clear plastic container of her son's shit but she'll probably chuck it out the window on the way to work.

I support you man fuck all da haterz fasting is actually good for you (sometimes) if you're already physically healthy you don't need to fast just maintain but if you're obese it's a real quick way to burn up the stored fat in your body and decrease your food addiction. A lot of people eat because they think their hungry when they're really not their brain is just use to not having a empty stomach. People seem to forget that humans can actually live a pretty long time without food off the stored fat in their bodies instead of eating every few hours or so everyday. If you're exceptionally active and it fits your natural body weight (lets say 110) you could literally eat 3 or 4 meals every two or three days.
Would you mind explaining your near death experience though?

When I was in basic training in 2015 it happened to go over Ramadan, so us non Muslims were given the option to do a voluntary fast to show camaraderie or some shit. But I did it mainly cause the forfeiture of the daytime meals meant that the breaking fast meal at sundown was way better than what we'd normally get.
So I did that. Basically around 0530 we'd have our first meal with no food or water until about maybe 1900. I was raised Catholic so the no food wasn't as bad but the no water was what did it
Also we were doing a lot of parades at the time so being on the parade square in the sun without water was pretty fucked, but I survived.

Without it I can still easily forget to eat for an entire day. I have friends who feel weak after 8 hours who are pretty damn fit. I fast 2 to 5 days about twice a year, for the past 10 or so years. Want to increase the fasting time, ultimate goal is like 21 days or more
I'm way overweight, though not doing it for weight reduction.
Effects include:
>heightened overall awareness
>heightened sense of smell
>clarity of thought
>general "feel-good" physical feeling
>having more energy to do things and a clear sense of purpose, concentration and determination
The hunger subsides after a few hours, but you have to be in a certain state of mind to fast successfully - either the smells compel you to taste everything or you can put them aside.
My wife actually nags me a lot to break fast, as she's afraid that fasting is not "natural". I sometimes imagine how easy it would be to fast on a deserted island, far away from all distractions.

I probably could have gone longer, but watching my other family members eat finally got to me. It wasn't because I was hungry (my body has stopped my mind from thinking about it), it was because I missed the feeling of mastication.

3 days. I do it as a cleanse and for the reflection. Usually I do it after I have been shitcanned from my latest job and I need my mind and instincts sharp. After the first day your senses heighten. I get a sort of clarity while I do it. Interestingly, it doesn't make me feel particularly lethargic. I have energy, but not endurance. I have the energy to get up and do things but if I exert myself for more than a minute I tire. I usually take a green drink like green vibrance and various supplements while I do it for nutrition and to enhance the cleansing part of the fast. It is not an unpleasant experience at all and I recommend it to everyone. It shrinks your stomach and teaches your body to burn fat instead of carbs for energy.

Fasting is a redpill on your body/mind/palette.

I do 2 types of fasts: 24 hour intermittant fasting everyday (ie. I eat only one meal a day) and a 5 day fast every 3 months.

Intermittant fasting is normal for me, it seems to suit my body to eat once a day. Doesn't feel like "fasting" though technically it is. But the longer 5-day fast does affect me. That first meal after breaking fast is always special. And I have more free time to do other stuff when I don't have to eat. Same goes for your body. Which is why I do that longer fast.

My longest fast was 1 month + a couple of days, did it only to see if I could. Probably not doing that again.

Yeah and nah. Maybe a bit of clarification, I'm 6"1 at 280 pounds, and fairly heavy built, so people generally guess a lot less when I ask them to estimate my weight. So yes, obese, but not morbidly so.
Why am I doing it? It's a kind of a ritual for me, I call it "cleansing of the body". And it's fun, I learn a lot about myself doing it, and it allows me to push my boundaries and train my will. I always begin any "dieting" runs with a few days of fasting, and always lose like 20-30 pounds in one run, then slowly gain it back. Rinse and repeat.
I'm genuinely curious how long I would last fasting without any ill health effects. I estimate at least a month, with the "volume" under my belt. So that's the long term target.
I also do it when I'm sick and do not enjoy food at all anyways.
And the side effects described in my first post >>8486896 are a nice bonus. So that's why.

I was miserable and everyone who had to deal with me was miserable because of it, I felt bad for the nurses afterwards because of how big of a cunt I was.

Yeah because being forced into an insane asylum is a fucking walk in the park bro. Are you a retard? You're surrounded by literally crazy people who might as well not be human and a staff who doesn't care about you outside of babysitting and making sure they fulfill their job duties like making you take meds. Also youre locked out of the outside world and have no freedom at all.

But im sure you've been through way worse bro. Tell us aboUT the time you lost both legs and had to revive your dying dog while your dad had his asshole devoured by a bear all at the same time.

I know this isn't fasting, but I'm American so I'm counting it. I've skipped lunch almost every day for a couple years now. This included with a light breakfast some mornings and a small to medium-sized dinner every night isn't bad.
