>Chili made in a crock pot

It was ok, but I fucked up the cooking process and had to rescue it. I marinated the meat in beer and when it came time to cook I dumped everything in, marinade and all. The crock pot doesn't allow moisture to cook off so the chili came out soupy. I had to add breadcrumbs and a corn starch slurry to thicken it up.

Next time I will dump the marinade down the sink and brown the meat in a pan first before adding. If I'm able I'll also cook it on the stove without a lid to let the extra moisture cook off.

What suburb are you in mate? I'm in Sunshine North and get them down at the local vietnamese butcher/fish monger/place with frozen fishy stuff. It's on Hampshire rd just off ballarat road.

Other options would be in Footscray (on lead st, away from the tramstop), Caulfield (there is a tiny asian grocer that has them), Carnegie (asian grocer), Clayton (there is a fairly large asian supermarket called KL - I think - that has them). These are all confirmed places.

I'm sure in Springvale you could get them. Probably north Richmond too

Oh thanks, I'll do that. Usually I use seasoned salt, Montreal steak seasoning, or some chicago chop steak seasoning that I have and then when I toast the bun I put a slice of Mozzarella on it if I have it but it sounds great the way you put it.

Gonna be horrible but what exactly do you mean flatwise? Slicing vertically down the center of the chicken breast or cutting in the middle I guess the height of the chicken breast? I guess the latter makes more sense I usually just cut them up into chunks and then just try to jam as much as I can onto two sandwiches.

Trying to get more into cooking and making good home made stuff but I'm lazy and dont like spending more then like 30-40 minutes in the kitchen. I don't even have real kitchen kn ives yet. Just a steak knife that I use for pretty much anything.

For breakfast, used a little bit to pour over white rice and placed a couple fried eggs on top with green onion, salt, and pepper. Though the boiled veggies from the stock were nutrtionless, their taste was still there so I threw a few of those in the bowl for really no reason. Experimental/10. Sure,
>150 grams of red lentil that is about 1 cup
>80 grams of bulgur that is about half a cup (if they not come prepacked in one bags, one bag is usually enough)
>1 table Biber Salcasi or another brand of red pepper paste
>half a table spoon red pepper flakes or chili powder (if you want more spice)
>1 table spoon tomato paste
>salt
>chopped parsley
>1 onion
>1/2 chopped green onion
>lettuce
>lemons for that spicy sour flavour
Cook the Bulgur and Red Lentil till its all mushy and absorbed all the water. About 2 cups of water for the Lentil and one cup for the Bulgur. Let the Bulgur and Lentil cool down.

Cook the onion in olive oil till its golden then add the red pepper paste and tomato paste. cook it for about 5 minutes.

Add and mix everything together with the chopped parsley and green onion. When its mixed make it into balls or whatever shape you prefer. Eat them with the lettuce and sprinkle some lemon juice on it.

It turned out to be kind of disappointing. I really was looking for a nice, creamy texture, but it turned out to be a bit chunky. Not too sure what I did wrong. I think it may have been something to do with adding the milk too early so it curdled? Or perhaps it was just the fact that I used shitty prepackaged shredded cheese. 4/10.

The prepackaged shredded cheese is coated in stuff that makes it not stick to itself (not sure what), and causes lumps in sauces; you can rinse it before adding it to the milk to get rid of most of it.

Leftover fusili/rotini that had just been buttered. Heated it up in a pan with some olive oil and then mixed two eggs with salt, a good amount of cheese and plenty of black pepper. Took the pan off the heat, poured in and mixed until homogenous. It was still a biiiiit too undercooked at the end so I put it on low heat again for a couple of seconds, it was still runny and creamy.

Had it for lunch. I'm not claiming to make carbonara or some shit, it's just some carbonara-inspired thing I do to get rid of leftover pasta. Tastes great, usually also sweat some garlic in the oil.

Christmas dinner. I've been eating leftovers since then. Cooked up a turkey, a goose crown and a pheasant along with all the trimmings, then made a mirror glazed chocolate cake.

Fucked up the pheasant for once, but everything else was good and I have a spare one in the freezer to redeem myself with. The chocolate cake was pretty fucking great even if I ran out of red colouring gel and ended up with a pink glaze.

Braised pork (like carne guisada)

>shake 1 1/2 pound pork cubes in flour and brown in dutch oven, reserve
>saute onion, garlic, 3 jalapenos in drippings
>beef stock in, scrap bits off bottom
>add cumin, chili powder, a bit of cinnamon, cilantro
>pork in, put in oven half-covered for 3 hours

Delicious tender pork bits in a super rich gravy. Served with refried beans and bread, garnish with more cilantro.

>> No.8410525

Just enough to cover the meat (like any other braise)

Yes, you could make it in a crock pot. But again, like any other kind of stew, you'll get better results if you brown the meat first. That generally requires a separate pot because most "crock pots" can only slow cook and don't get hot enough to brown the meat. So brown the meat in a separate pan then transfer it to the crock pot to finish cooking.
