I've been posting on 4chan for ten years (fuck my life), and the racism has gotten way out of hand. It used to be the occasional nigger or Jew joke, but now you can't have any sort of discussion at all about food without fucktards turning it into a racist/xenophobic shitfest. Every thread you see some bullshit about shitskins or amerilards or some other comment designed to inflame people rather than have an actual discussion.

I've noticed the decline not just in /ck/ but in other boards as well. /an/ used to be the most chill of boards, but now it's full of people shitposting about killing cats and hating on pit bulls.

There's been a definite shift, and if you haven't noticed it, you're either a newfag or part of the problem.

What's always been interesting about this particular board has been the high/low mashup that coms from talking about food. As someone who cooks, has been in the wine business and has many restaurateur friends the opinions of the frozen pizza, tendies and ranch dressing eating crowd fascinate me, because I don't know any people like that in real life. I definitely agree with this.

A lot of people are living vicariously online and getting confused by the whole "any attention is good attention" and "15 min of fame" phenomena of social media. The result is socially fucked-up people who are disconnected from reality.

It's funny to read the circle jerk posts in /pol/, especially the ones against women. In the past, people would be rejected by women, get mad, but keep trying, eventually find a gf or wife, and start to normalize.

Now, socially awkward people spend all their time online and wonder why their social skills are atrocious, their bodies are wasting away, and women aren't paying attention to them (even when they are outside IRL, which is uncommon). They become prematurely bitter and surround themselves with equally inexperienced upset young men who feel rejected despite the fact that they never actually put themselves "out there" to begin with. They spend hours circle jerking and collecting "evidence" (e.g.: vocal minority SJW's nonsensical rants) supporting their beliefs that all women are evil etc.

The result is inexperienced permavirgins who are throwing away their youth and basically becoming embittered at far too young of an age. They can justify why they are superior than everyone else and why trying at life is pointless and for sheep.

It's going to be interesting seeing how the world is in 20 years, when these people have "matured".

Regardless, I wouldn't want to live in 50's America. I was a child in 70's America, and that was kinda fun, and a young man in 90's America, which was OK, but I think today is better. Definitely better for me.

Tying this to food I'd say it's much easier to eat well (if you have an interest in doing so) now than at any point in the second half of the last century. But they're rarely busted for it because police are not all that likely to randomly search them. But the jails are full of black guys who happened to be hol;ding when they were searched on the street. Broken windows policing basically paints a target on every brown and black young man in a way that it doesn't do nearly so much for whites. And statistically the more interaction you have with law enforcement the greater your chance of ending up in jail or dead, even if you're not a criminal.

Violent crime is associated with poverty. Poor people are likely to commit and be victims of it. If you'd like to see it reduced your best bet is to take action against poverty. More aggressive law enforcement isn't going to prevent crime, it's just going to catch some of the folks who commit it. If you want to prevent violent crime you have to lift people out of poverty.

That's completely untrue. High rents making it so only the wealthy could afford most neighborhoods in Manhattan is what did it. Make it so poor people can't afford to live somewhere and you see a drop in street crime. Sure, filling up the penal system with low level offenders has made privately run jails profitable, but it doesn't do a thing to prevent crime. It just assures more kids grow up fatherless and more likely to become criminals themselves.
