It's mildly seasoned. I didn't bother to mention it because I don't consider it "American" food. It's just a variation of Schnitzel. Etc.

2) It's a generalization. Most white people descended from northern Europe, which is a cold climate where spices don't grow. Thus it's hardly surprising that the traditional dishes from those countries are relatively mildly spiced. Other races came from warmer climates where spices do grow. It's all about latitude on the globe. Tropical area = warm climate = spices abound in the native cuisine. Northern latitude = cold climate = spices were only for the rich who could afford to import them = not much spice in the native cuisine.
