I like whiskey especially rye. It's a shame the prices have gone up. What's the differences between whiskey and scotch?

I had some and it burned and it hurt. I don't remember how it tasted.

Whiskey is the general term for all distilled spirits made from grain.

Scotch is a specific style made only in Scotland. The malt is dried with peat fires and the spirit must be aged for three years plus a day, and probably some other requirements I can't recall.

wild turkey rare breed is another good bourbon with a very fair price point

i've only tried one scotch (highland park 12). the first time i had some i liked it well enough to sip a few fingers worth. several months later i went back to the same bottle and absolutely hated it. the tobacco taste was far too prominent for my liking. but i'd like to try another scotch. does anyone have any recommendations? cheap is good, but obviously i'll spend some dosh on a decent bottle. i'm mainly looking for something simple and low on the tobacco flavor

If your in the UK get some single malt scotch minatures, one from each region, and find what you enjoy best.

Had some Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban last night and it was amazing, but since it was my first port finished scotch i wanna look into some others to get an idea for pricing.
