Why would anyone pay $40 for this when you can get the same thing for $10 at walmart? Fucking stoopid.

>> No.8115015

>>8115002
Because the $10 thing at wal-mart looks similar but isn't the same thing.

The yeti is an actual vacuum flask. 99% of lookalikes are not. They're just an insulated container that has a similar shape but whose insulation is nowhere near as good.

So Americans who are perpetually complaining about Chinese knock-offs scoff at the idea of paying $40 for a product when a $10 copy is available at Wal-mart?

I'm literally drinking coffee out of my $10 Walmart Yeti ripoff. It works every bit as well as the Yeti ones and it IS a vacuum sealed flask. This is the exact same technology as the Yeti and keeps my coffee hot as hell for 3-4 hours at least and keeps my beer or water cold for 6-8 although I always drink whatever I have long before that. I have been asking myself and people on my campus this constantly and I just get made fun of for not having a Yeti.

If you buy a yeti you're literally only paying for a brand logo. Ozarks and Yetis are manufactured in the same plants, the only difference is which logo gets stamped on the lid.

Yes they do. They are exactly the same, even as far as having interchangeable parts. Same for the koozies. I would bet money that they are made in the same factory with the only difference being the logo.

>I would bet money that they are made in the same factory with the only difference being the logo.

Unlikely, as any decent factory won't risk losing a customer like that. More likely, some other factory reverse engineered it, and are making it from thinner metal with cheaper parts.

>If you buy a yeti you're literally only paying for a brand logo. Ozarks and Yetis are manufactured in the same plants

Source? My ex was an engineer of thermo-blahblah and they were constantly working on new insulation technology. When a company discovers a new formula for insulation materials, they don't just give it out to everyone, it is highly secret. If the metal of the container is made in the same place, ok I guess, but that would never mean that the insulation material is the same if one company has designed a new and improved material while the other has not. From what I heard, there were two men who created the material which is contained in YETI insulation, but they split as a team and though they created the newest most efficient material, one went to make YETI brand and the other made ARTC, or whatever they are called. THOSE two are said to be the same thing, but on the technical side, the mugs for $10 at Walmart are absolutely NOT the same as a mug which has been created with the insulation technology of a YETI or that other RTIC or whatever it is. Not everything is about a name brand, but when a particular brand actually innovates something new, it becomes EVERYTHING about that brand. Until someone steals the method, I guess. But since they can't advertise that they stole it or can't prove that they are doing as good or pretend to be better.... Originals win.

That depends if Yeti even designed something, they might simply be a branding company themselves. With all the actual engineering already done before they came along, by some China factory which sells these things with custom logos.

Which seems to be the case given the performance and visual similarity of the Walmart cup.

True, although as >>8115987 pointed out it seems the Walmart version is lighter. Which suggests I am right about it being made with thinner sheet metal and not the exact same product with a different label.
