What can I use to replace salt? My body holds onto sodium so bad, only a pinch will make me retain lots of fluid. I have to go salt free, but all savory food is bland now, but I want to like savory food. I find garlic and lemon especially really enhance flavor, but there must be more out there, right?

You just have to get used to it. Same as giving up smoking; your taste buds will adapt.

Or just use MSG on everything.

Yeah MSG might help, I think it's common to use MSG basically like salt in some Asian countries.

My grandmother has a bunch of these. I've tried a few, they don't taste like salt at all but they're okay.

If you got totally salt free you'll probably die, just a heads up.

My mom cooks mostly sat free because of my dads high blood pressure. at first it was bland then I started getting used to it now I barely notice it although we do a lot of fried foods.

It's sodium but MSG isn't the same as NaCl.

Use more aromatics when you cook. I eat a salt free diet and things like celery and garlic taste super salty to me after three months of no salt.

Chile is good too, but most hot sauces have a shit ton of salt in them, so pay attention to what you buy.

Most dishes require salt to taste even remotely good. Either only eat dishes that don't need salt or become a fat water blob. A lot of uncooked vegetarian food goes without salt, so try that.

salt is still in foods naturally, as long as he eats meat every once in a while, he'll be fine. fish especially is salty

Thanks for the tips :). Looking forward to adjusted tastebuds, but I need dis before that's happened. I think I will be fine sodium/electrolyte wise. I am vegan, but I've seen salt free vegans who are doing just fine too. Only they eat potatoes and rice without seasoning whatsoever. That's a little too savage for me. Isn't msg poison or something?

Acid is one mouth trick substitute for salt, so yes, citrus juices and vinegary things. But so do fresh garnishes like pico de gallo on top of your dinner, your sandwich, etc. Any kind of marinated salads that have acid, from texas caviar, to avocado with pickled onions.
Sofrito, chimmichurri, harissa, sambal oleek, mojito, salsas of various types like borracha or roasted tomato.

A quick chop of herbs on top of everything, from cilantro to basil to parsley. Add in some zest, like a gremolata. Start making things like mango chutney, cranberry orange relish, and other things to season a bit of roasts or jazz up a sandwich.

Sodium free bouillion will add flavor to things, think about where broth can make one pot meals richer tasting, without the usual salt. Starches like potatoes, rice, polenta, couscous, gets stock now.. Beans.

Mrs. Dash is pretty yummy, just pricey.>>8082150

He's just a faggot. Low carb and low/no salt makes you look better because it minimizes fluid retention. You look leaner without being leaner.

Most of salt is already in food, so you should cut off those, especially cheese and preserved meat like salami and shit. You can use spices on food to lower the salt needed, also i heard there exist integral salt which is more "diluted" and could be more usable in your situation.
That potassium salt is ok if you have no kidney problems.

Yeah, thanks for caring. I have high inflammation levels because of cancer that makes me retain the fluid. It's not really dangerous, but rather annoying since my joints get achy when I hold onto water. Yeah, the oncologist could give me diuretics, but as long as it's not dangerous I'll want to opt for more natural solutions. :)

At some point it can be a dangerous to organs and blood pressure. I'm sure you don't want extra medication though, but keep an eye on it all if it happens outside of the legs.

OP be careful of hidden sodium levels that are crazy high. Preserved meat is notorious for it, basic sandwich stuff.

the sodium content in NaCl is what you are trying to get away from

That's why "light salt" is half KCl not half NaBr
