Maybe a bit late and while I have no recipe for home fries I do have some tips.
-Parboil your diced potatoes
-If you don't want to parboil at least rinse them of starch until the water runs clear
-Use a medium to medium low heat, patience yields a fluffy interior, crispy exterior
-Flip often
-If you aren't worried about fat you can occasionally dot the tops of the frying mass with small cubes of butter and let them melt through to the bottom
-"Smash" them a small bit with the flat of a spatula to create a bit of texture. Don't over do this though. I like about a fourth of them to be broken apart but not like mashed potatoes.
-Most importantly, be patient. If they aren't getting as crisp as you like, I'd suggest just waiting rathering than cranking up the heat.
