I want to try this, just buy some dough from the store.

Any suggestions on what to use for sauce? Was thinking of making an Alfredo, or using a honey bbq.

I don't know what that's supposed to be, but aside from a feint hint of smokiness there's honestly no reason to bake something in a cast iron pan on the grill as opposed to just throwing it in the oven.

being outside in nature, with a beer...

seriously though... i agree.

if you are going to cook pizza on a grill.. cook it directly on the grill like a boss.

i want to build a wood fired oven in my back yard, but the materials alone (for a respectable setup) are a grand or more and the time it would take is sort of ridiculous as well. i already have an outdoor fireplace, and i thought it would be cool to be able to transfer fire from one to the other for different purposes.. but its just a large task i haven't even begun to undertake and one that i don't think anyone should undertake lightly.

this guy is kinda goofy but his technique seems pretty solid and i don't think you can argue with the results really..

my uncle taught me this technique back in teh late 90s and my family and friends have enjoyed a lot of grilled pizza over the years.

i think the trick is to turn down the fire... you really don't need direct flames on your pizza but that is exactly what grilling is, so its sort of counter intuitive.

heating the sauce and using precooked toppings is a good idea as well because the toppings won't have long to cook. and you need to have everything ready to go on the pizza the second you flip it over - because that other side starts cooking and this whole thing doesn't take long.

the best grilled pizza i have ever had was off a pizza stone inside of a green egg that was burning hickory and charcoal. that pizza was just pesto, thin sliced sopressata, and onions.

don't . bbq pizza is over rated.

that looks like wood, but i know what you mean the clay stones, they work well even fro frozen pizzas.

That seems correct, so just oven cooks the deep dish.
