How can I make bananas last longer? Right now I just throw them on a granite countertop.

Separate them, wrap the stems in cling wrap, keep them away from other fruits.

i worked at the fruits and veggies isle of a really big supermarket here. i know a thing or two about storing this shit.

leaving banana in plastic will make them ripen faster. first thing we did when bananas come into the store is opening the plastic wrap they are in. you can store green bananas in the fridge, but i would advise against it. when yellow, do not put in fridge that ruins your banana.

stick them up your ass

Leave them out until they reach desired ripeness, then place in fridge. Skin will turn brown, but the fruit will last longer.

I wait until they are the perfect ripeness for me then put them in the fridge. The peeling will turn brown but the banana inside will be the same ripeness as when you put it into the fridge. In summer I peel them shove a bamboo skewer through them length ways then wrap them in plastic wrap and freeze them. They are an amazing frozen treat.
