Like many people have said, it varies by region. For me, I grew up in the South so a full breakfast includes:

One or two of the following breads:

I always eat a decent breakfast. 3 eggs over easy. Cherry tomatoes fried on the vine. Rice or hash browns. If I have left over corned beef, I do corned beef hash. If not, I fry up some ham and diced onion. Homemade cherry preserves on sourdough toast.

I think Germans have the right idea when it comes to breakfast. You want something substantial with protein and carbs to give you energy for the day, but it's early and you don't really feel like cooking, so fuck it, let's just grab some deli sandwich ingredients out of the fridge and eat them buffet style while we read a book and boil some coffee.
