Is an indoor grill worth buying?

Thinking about getting this

While I agree, I live in an apartment building. I do have a balcony, but it's honestly not that big and not very practical considering I'll be selling the place soon.

I want juicy meat with nice grill marks for superior presentation.

What do family?

In my university days my roommate bought one of those, but with a glass lid. We found it to be more for convenience of putting on frozen hamburger patties and sausages.

Cleaning them was such a fucking bitch.

What's wrong with a cast iron griddle pan ?

All those do is make "grill marks" on food. They are less effective for cooking due to the lower heat output and they lack the "smoky" flavor from a real grill which happens when the juices from the food drip down into the coals.

Isn't an indoor charcoal grill bad? In that they give off carbon monoxide?

I also have one and after 2 weeks I never touched it again. You can't wash it in the sink, so you have to work with papertowels. Worst experience, I ever had.

I still keep it. Would use it for a come together with friends, where lots of grilling takes place, but just for me, it is a waste of time to fire it up.

My recommendation would be to pick up one of these old Farberware grills from eBay or your local Goodwill.

If you're not happy with cast iron you'll be very disappointed with even the best electric grill. My parents had some stupidly expensive grill (George Forman?)

I used it to make toasted sandwiches and that's it.

If i wanted to char something indoors i'd allways use a griddle, i think the trick is to leave it on the heat for 5 - 10 mins before you use it as they retain heat very well.

for Cajun chicken i'd dry rub a brest then place one on the griddle presentation side down. wait 2 mins and flip it, then it will go in a 180C oven for 15 mins. Beautifully charred on the outside (party because of spiced) and moist inside.
