St. Louis.

If you live near a Schnucks, these are god-tier.

A lot of jalapeño products just dump in capsaicin to generate heat, but they don't actually taste like anything. These are not even that spicy, they taste like actual jalapeños. All the nice authentic flavor, and an appropriate amount of heat for what is actually a relatively mild pepper.

These are sneaky. While you are eating them they are sweet with a bit of tingle, then they start to heat up a bit, so you eat more, back to sweet... The you start feeling even more heat.

Your choice at that point is to just keep eating them, then suffer the consequences, or avoid building up the heat level by eating them in small doses.

Man, lots of other Louisianafags here.

NOLA Brewing is the shit. The Blonde is refreshing and flavorful, Hopitoulas is a bold IPA that remembers that hops shouldn't be the sole source of its flavor, and their Irish Channel stout is creamy with notes of coffee and chocolate. (A car bomb made with the IC stout tastes like a chocolate milkshake. It's wonderful.)

Not sure if they're doing to do Hurricane Saison again, but it's got a refreshing citrus-y tang that makes it quite enjoyable during the summer.

You are cucked in every aspect of your life, including the horrible state that you reside and the shitty potato chips that you choke down that you pretend to enjoy. But please, by all means, shave days off of your life with every sour, garbage-water flavored bite. I prefer that you die sooner.

This is true. NOLA has a deep, rich and somewhat fucked up history that makes it one of the most culturally rich places in the US. That richness comes with a price, as the weight of history manifests itself in some wonderful things and some really fucked up shit. And it's still going on. I've been hanging out in the 9th and 7th Wards for the last two weeks, and it really seems like many members of the African American communities there were promised government help that never came after their forced relocation due to Katrina, and now many of their houses are being sold out from under them in tax auctions to white folks from out of town who have no idea why they're able to get that house so cheap.

But the good things to come out of this history are indisputable, and most easily seen in the music and the food. The pick up band playing some shitty bar here is probably better than the best band in your town. The Drum Coprs kid playing nothing but a snare on a corner of Royal is probably a better drummer than the drummer in your favorite band. The same goes for the food. There are some top flight restaurants here, but even at the lower levels the food here is excellent. You can do just fine hitting a tourist trap like Coops, or go a little deeper (and do even better) hitting local joints like Frady's, Melba's, Hank's, Gene's and countless other places serving the historic food of this town. The mix of influences in the food and the enthusiasm for it is very similar to the music here - it comes from a unique history embodied by the people who have lived here for many generations. And while many work to preserve it the fact is shit is still going down, and the culture is not something from the past. It's alive, and you can hear and taste it, even in the touristy parts of town.

It's a truly great fucked up shithole.

>To make Shrewsbury Cakes.

Take two pound of floure dryed in the Oven and weighed after it is
dryed, then put to it one pound of Butter that must be layd an hour or
two in Rose-water, so done poure the Water from the Butter, and put the
Butter to the flowre with the yolks and whites of five Eggs, two races
of Ginger, and three quarters of a pound of Sugar, a little salt, grate
your spice, and it well be the better, knead all these together till you
may rowle the past, then roule it forth with the top of a bowle, then
prick them with a pin made of wood, or if you have a comb that hath not
been used, that will do them quickly, and is best to that purpose, so
bake them upon Pye plates, but not too much in the Oven, for the heat of
the Plates will dry them very much, after they come forth of the Oven,
you may cut them without the bowles of what bignesse or what fashion you
please.
