What kind of wok should I buy?
Carbon steel?

Yes.

Non stick is the only way to go. You know the pan is hot enough when your dog dies from the fumes.

Carbon steel is the best, yes.

Unless you're cooking over a big open fire or have one of those gas stoves the size of jet engines, don't bother.

Get an electric one. I use mine almost every day.

This, the average stove top doesn't put out the heat to use one properly even at highest. Make sure to do all prep beforehand since there will be ZERO time for that while cooking without burning shit. At best it'll be decent tasting mush unless you find a way to seriously get some hest going.

The average stove top is easily converted.

Your rice-a-roni will not be any better in a wok

Certainly carbon steel.

The exact shape depends on your stove. Get a round bottom one if you have a gas stove a flat bottom one otherwise.

Honestly, unless you are using the wok for every meal there is no real reason to have a carbon steel. Even then, you're better off buying a carbon steel pan over a wok as it will have more applications.

As it was mentioned before, the average stove top won't be able to tap its full potential. I have a CS and an aluminum wok, the aluminum gets far more use and in my opinion produces a nicer product.

I hope you at least stir fry the dog so he doesn't go to waste.
