People don't generally fillet mammals without killing them first.
Most cattle are killed using a captive bolt pistol to render them unconscious and unable to feel pain. Meanwhile this frog and quite a lot of fish at decent sushi restaurants are quartered up and filleted while still alive and conscious.

I never said all Americans do this. I meant they tend to whereas Europeans tend not to. I'm talking in generalities, yes, but my point still stands because people in Europe don't use this cheese at all really whereas a lot (yes not all) of Americans do. Most countries have regional/class/ethnic differences but it still makes sense sometimes to generalise when comparing with other countries

PS: get over yourselves and stop pretending you're the only country with internal differences. No other country loves to harp on about muh regional culture as much as you do. It's ironic because Old World countries have much more well-established regional cultures, but you make a much bigger deal of yours

fish brains are simplistic, and part of the brain is still in the spinal column, which helps control motor receptors. this happened to a chicken once that had its head cut off too. the chicken miraculously lived for what i understand to be months after the fact because despite being divorced from personality, regular memory, and feelings, the bird still had muscle memory, and the nerve impulses to move, and continue regular body functions like breathing, heartbeat.

Is that some buffet food he's cooking? I couldn't see a need to make that much unless it was headed for the troughs.

Saw the first 3 I think, the Italian guy, the argie who lives in the woods, and the guy who literally knows everything about what gets cooked right from the nutrients in the soil and shit. Great stuff

I'd never say that cooking is rocket science, but everyone who underestimates restaurant experience is fucking retarded.

You might think you're a decent cook, but come to my restaurant and I'll teach you whatever station you want after the lunch rush, for however many days it takes you to learn.

When I put you on the line Saturday night you will be crying and shitting your pants.

Occasionally cooking something that turns out good at home isn't the same as cooking it 100 times every night and knowing exactly how not to fuck it up (while doing a dozen other things at the same time and being yelled at if you fuck something up).

I think you're the one overestimating restaurant experience.
Or at least blowing it out of proportion where it is quite obviously irrelevant.
That is a basic fajita wrap.
A kid could do it with literally zero guidance or explanation.

I wasn't the guy you originally responded to, and was only bringing up how underrated actual restaurant experience is. But yeah, the video isn't the most impressive thing in the world.

>a kid could do it with literally zero guidance or explanation

And then you go and make a blatantly false claim like that.

Have you ever even looked at half the OC threads on /ck/? An actual child would burn themselves and everything on that grill...

I wasn't talking about cooking anything. I was talking about building a fajita out of pre prepared ingredients like in that webm.

The dude is cooking while he's putting plates of food together. What the fuck are you even talking about, and why do you keep saying fajita?

You've not really familiar with top class restaurants are you? This manner of presenting food would have been seen as over the top even in the 80s and 90s, when stylistic presentation was in vogue. Discerning diners nowadays want superb food presented in an appetising manner, not a bloody art canvas.

When I see a stunt like this my first thought is 'what does it actually taste like?'

More often than not ludicrous gimmicks like this are a symptom of insecurity over the food. Good food will speak for itself. There's no need to smear it across the plate as if it were paint. It's pretentious to presume that your customers will want to scrape and slurp your food off the table instead of having it on a plate in easily-manageable mouthfuls.
