I've always known that, morally, I was better than the average barbarian due to my vegan dietary choices, it feels good to be 100% indisputably validated, by not only news media but credible public health organizations, for not being a meat eating barbarian

i love those summer sausages you see in christmas gift packs.

they're probably the most carcinogenic of all from all the preservatives. but they're so incredibly tasty!

This.
Just don't eat only red meat and you'll be fine.
I don't smoke, but for most people, eating red meat isn't the only thing they do to have cancer.

That might sound like a lot, but it's really not. Say the general population has a 1% chance to get cancer, an 18% increase just gives you a 1.18% chance to get cancer.

>According to estimates cited by the WHO, about 34,000 cancer deaths per year worldwide can be attributed to diets that are high in processed meat. That's a small fraction of the 8.2 million deaths caused by cancer in 2012, according to the latest WHO data.

So processed meats can be attributed to a whopping total of 0.4% of cancer deaths.

>> No.7015240

This generation isn't going to reduce its meat consumption. Too set in its ways and would consider it a personal defeat to do so. Just like with smokers it'll take a few generations. >>7015202
Take this guy for example. Trying to make out like the number of ass cancer deaths in high meat eating countries are small. Like the meat industry you're pretending that in first world countries where carcinogens are strictly regulated and smoking rates are lower the high prevelance of cancer is a statistical oddity. Nothing to do with diet.

Eat bacon if you want. Just like people smoke despite knowing the risks. But don't pretend that you're not taking a risk or that everything causes cancer xD

>> No.7015247

>>7015240
The numbers are incredibly small, and the risk of processed meat only increases your likelihood of rectal cancer by 18% when consuming a typical amount (and there is no evidence of it causing other cancers)

These are tiny numbers we are dealing with, you really should stop overreacting

>> No.7015254

>>7015240
>or that everything causes cancer xD
Pretty much everything causes cancer. Cancer is the inevitable state of human life so long as something else does not kill you first. Its so much more common in the first world because we have become quite adept at preventing most other forms of death that tend to kill people before cancer comes around in poorer areas

The increase in cancer risk from processed meats is so minimal that is hardly worth changing your lifestyle over unless you eat a ridiculous amount of it. It is more like refusing to fly to avoid the risk of a plane crash than it is like smoking or sun tanning which actually increase your cancer hazard by an appreciable rate
