I haven't eaten a pot of chili without beans in my life. I have eaten the canned chili with no beans on hotdogs and for that I consider it the only acceptable time chili should be without beans down south we just call it hot dog sauce.

I will repeat what I said in the last chili thread.

There is nothing wrong with beans. They are a decent addition to a good chili. But they can also be used to prop up a bad chili, with the greater textural and visual variety distracting from the bland flavor.

If your chili would be good with or without beans, then it is probably good. If your chili requires beans, or you find yourself saying or thinking "but chili without beans is just bolognese", your chili is probably bad and you should work on improving its taste, not just dumping beans in to cover it up.

I really love beans i chili. I'm eating through my stock of home grown beans right now. Almost done with them.
