I know that technically they are different, but at a very basic level they are the same thing: isolate a trait you like and make more of it. Back in the day we were limited to combining similar animals and plants, but now that we can isolate specific genes in a lab the floodgates have opened for us to make even more marvelous mutants. Did you know that broccoli, asparagus, and a whole host of other veggies would be inedible without modification? The only difference is that GMOs are done in a lab and the other modifications are done through splicing out undesirable qualities. Plus you use shitloads of pesticides on non-GMOs and other care that uses up fuel on machinery, chemicals and other resources that are also panned in one way or another by some group or another.

Thing is, Europeans bought into the hype when the EU did a study and said "GMOs r bad mmkay" when some of the same people years later (including health professionals) recanted and said they were pressured into saying what they said to push foward a bigger agenda.

Not all of the new places are bad either. Some of the newer places do a good enough job to even influence the menus of the established places around the city. I'm From St. Louis. We eat both kinds of barbecue- smoked meat and 'Barbecue': grilled meat cooked with sauce applied During cooking.
As for Pizza, the thin 'Imo's style' with provel cheese, is good. We also enjoy Chicago style deep dish pizza, and many varieties in between.
Burgers: Steak n Shake makes steakburgers (and owns that trademark). If you come to StL, be sure to have one.
Ice Cream: Ted Drewes frozen custard is head n shoulders better than the rest.
