Another German here and I'm beginning to suspect 95% of Germans on 4chan are from some backwater hinterland. Krustenbraten? This is tourist food, you don't even see it at the butcher anymore, typical German has this maybe once a year these days if at all. Kale, same story, occasionally eaten when going out, rarely made a home. Black forest tart, gimme a break, you find crappy frozen ones at the supermarket, that's about it. Typical German today has the traditional dishes maybe once or twice a week, the rest is fish or chicken dishes, pasta, curries and so on. Schnitzel is pretty much the only of the stereotypical German dishes that's actually eaten a lot. I'm not even saying Krustenbraten or similar things are all bad, I like it once in a while but once in a year is enough.

Want to know what Germans really eat? Have a look at this weeks canteen menu of one of the dozens of factories Siemens has in Germany, this should give you an idea:

sour pickled cucumbers
few hard boiled eggs.
green onions
mayonnaise
salt
pepper
parsely

how you do it?
cook everything that needs to be cooked, dice nicely. chop pickles very finely mix with mayo, mix some of the pickle water in the mayo. finely choppen onion into mayo.
mix all of it with potatoes and eggs.
lets it sit in the fridge over night, yay deliciousness

finely cubed apple goes well in KARTOFFELSALAT TOO
