You have to be a special kind of dumb to be vegan.

Other organisms must die in order for you to live. This is a fact. Just because you eat quinoa and broccoli and fucking kale does not take you out of this, and does not make you more "ethical".

Ofc any sane person does not agree with the treatment of factory farmed animals, and I choose to avoid those products. This does not mean I avoid high quality animal proteins. (Raw oysters are a personal staple0. Humans have been eating animal products far longer than agriculture has been around to support your fad diet. Try and find 3 examples of long term (40+ years) vegans who look healthy. What about a POPULATION of vegans who have had healthy children who went on to live healthy lives. Show me that and then I will stop eating animals, until then, you are running a new age experiment on your body. Stop acting like it is the ethical thing everyone should also be doing.

Boo fucking hoo it has a face, enjoy your teeth demineralizing and general nutritional deficiencies

You do realize that the vast majority of Buddhist monks are only in that lifestyle for a short period of time, right? They spend some time at the temple and then go back to their normal life (e.g. eating meat). The people you are talking about are temporarily vegan, it is not a self-sustaining population.

It's also a fallacy to say that Buddhists don't eat meat. It's a bit more complex than that. It is true that a Buddhist monk cannot accept meat if the animal was slaughtered specifically for the monk. However, they can and do eat meat so long as the intent of the slaughter was not to feed the monk.

The law does not say that they can't eat meat. It says that they can't kill. You seem to be missing that distinction, probably because you don't know very much about Buddhism and are just parroting what you read on some vegan blog.

after briefly reading up on 7th adventist movement, which i knew nothing about before, I found:

Since the 1860s when the church began, wholeness and health have been an emphasis of the Adventist church.[32] Adventists are known for presenting a "health message" that recommends vegetarianism and expects adherence to the kosher laws in Leviticus 11.

An estimated 35% of Adventists practice vegetarianism or veganism, according to a 2002 worldwide survey of local church leaders.

So 35% of this church is vegetarian, and an unknown number of that 35% is vegan. Doesn't seem very convincing.

Well, the first post is clearly bullshit because there's no grill. No grill means no Hibachi. It's also irrelevant if the photo was taken in America. The point is that Shinto practitioners clearly have no problem killing fish, therefore the idea that shintoists are vegan is absurd.

The 2nd post, while true, has nothing whatsoever to do with the topic at hand. Nobody claimed that most Japanese are Shinto or that Shinto "did them any good". The topic at hand is whether or not Shinto practitioners are Vegans, and a visit to any festival at a Shinto shrine will disprove that readily. Octopus balls and chicken-on-a-stick everywhere.

If you're born in a vegan community you won't suffer any malnutrition it only takes one or two generations to iron out the kinks and formulate a balanced diet. People who turn vegan have no idea how to feed themselves and look sickly. There's a difference between intentionally and unintentionally hurting and killing others. All of those products can be made vegan anyways.

Vegans tread lightly and cause the absolute minimal amount of unintentional damage to this planet and its inhabitants. Meat, dairy and egg-eaters cause the MAXIMUM amount of intentional and unintentional damage to this planet and its inhabitants because it is unreasonable to intentionally starve millions of humans to death by feeding around 50 percent of the world's crops to 60 billion land animals, to murder 60 billion land animals and 90 billion marine animals with premeditation, and then accidentally kill wild animals with tractors. Water for everybody.
Speaking of water, according to the Environmental Protection Agency the runoff from factory farms pollutes our rivers and lakes more than all other industries combined. In the U.S. alone, animals raised for food produce 130 times more excrement than the entire human population, 86,000 pounds per second. A typical pig factory farm generates as much raw waste as a city of 50,000 people. Chicken, pig, and cow excrement have polluted over 35,000 miles of rivers in at least 22 states and contaminated groundwater in at least 17 states.

What's more, chicken, pig, turkey and cow excrement comprise the sole source of all the recent E. Coli, salmonella and listeria outbreaks in which spinach, tomatoes, peanuts, jalapeño peppers, cantaloupe and other plant products have been implicated. E. Coli, salmonella and listeria have only one source: SHIT (human or animal)! Since spinach, peanuts, jalapeños, cantaloupe and tomatoes don't shit, spinach, peanuts, jalapeños, cantaloupe and tomatoes cannot be blamed for this problem. E. Coli, salmonella and listeria found their way to the plants because people who enslave animals for meat, dairy or eggs contaminate the waterways by dumping nearly 2.7 trillion pounds of manure into America's lakes, rivers and streams annually. Contaminated water eventually ends up on some of the crops as run-off, passing E. Coli, salmonella and listeria to the consumer. Also, more frighteningly, there are many times when farmers literally spray tons of RAW animal shit directly on the crops. Make no mistake: ALL E. Coli, salmonella and listeria incidents occur because of animal agriculture. Meat, dairy and egg-eaters want to eat billions of land animals. So ConAgra, Smithfield, Tyson, Perdue, etc. MASS PRODUCE billions of land animals far in excess of the numbers that would occur if these animals were left to their own reproductive devices and inclinations. Billions of land animals produce trillions of pounds of excrement.

It's like you've never heard of sustainable ethical farming or had friends that raise animals. Like you've never really visited one in your life.

Ever heard of a thing called hunting? Areas of Wisconsin have such terrible overpopulation issues with white tail deer that you're doing everyone a favor by snagging two to fill your freezer for a year. Same with bear in certain areas in the north west. Moose have overpopulation issues in certain areas as well and by paying for a hinting license you give the park the money it needs to keep open.

Factory farms were never the only option. Not everyone who consumes meat is anything like what you say. Great job jacking each other off while trying to guilt and shame your audience with poor, emotionally driven information. You'll really convince people that way.

Hunting is fine. If everyone in the US got their food from hunting, or even Salatin-style meat farming operations, it would be impossible for meat consumption to remain at the level that it's at today because we wouldn't have oceans of surplus trashmeat to dump on the unsuspecting poor, who clamor for it as though it was necessary for life.

Abolish factory farming and you have effectively abolished carnism.

We're on the same page here. Poor and ignorant people, factory farming, and carnism are the problems. The Deer Range Improvement Program (DRIP) is still in existence. And every state has a program like DRIP. It might not be called DRIP but there is a DRIP-like program all over the US.
If we didn't have sex-biased hunting, there would be an even ratio of male deer to female deer. So, if someone took a sample group of 10 deer—anywhere—there would be five males and five females. The five males would impregnate the five females who would then give birth to five offspring. However, after decades of killing big bucks for their large racks, we now have ratios of 7-to-3, 8-to-2, or 9-to-1 FEMALE to male. Let's take the 7-to-3 ratio. We now have three males impregnating seven females (we know males can impregnate as many females as they come in contact with). Then seven females give birth to seven offspring which means there are a minimum of two EXTRA babies per sample group of 10 deer because of sex-bias hunting.

>> No.6938544

>>6938421
>>6938478
Let's go further. Wildlife biologists have confirmed that when deer, and other animals, including humans during war times, feel their population is being decimated, as is the case after hunting season ends, the majority of all the females give birth to twins or triplets. So, let's take the twin scenario. Seven females are now giving birth to 14 babies instead of the original five (if our society didn't hunt) thereby having 9 EXTRA babies per sample group of 10 deer. When you multiply the extra babies over the entire Michigan herd, you have an "extra" 500,000 to 700,000 deer every year. And guess how many hunting licenses they issue every year? You guessed it, between 500,000 and 700,000. Plus, that's how the Michigan herd grew from 500,000 in the 70s to nearly 2 million nowadays. This scenario works in every state with the numbers only varying slightly. The only excuse to kill and eat animals would be a pure survival scenario. But this scenario is rare. Inuit living in an icy environment comes to mind (which is why I've never traveled to Alaska to lecture). I'll never understand why people who reside in NON-ICY or NON-DESERT settings hunt, kill and eat the flesh of animals. Habit, tradition, convenience or taste are invalid, barbaric reasons to harm animals. MURDERING and COMMODIFYING animals are crimes.

>> No.6938548

>>6938421
>>6938478
Murder is murder whether victims stand upright, walk on all fours, have fur, feathers, horns, beaks or gills. Self-defense or vicarious self-defense (defending others who cannot defend themselves) are the only justifications for murder. Commodification is when humans turn animals into inanimate objects and can't see them for anything else. Cows have been turned into shoes, briefcases and hamburgers. Chickens have been turned into buckets of wings. Deer have been transformed into unwilling participants of a bloodthirsty sport, severed-head wall-trophies and venison burgers. When humans are treated the way hunters treat animals, people scream Holocaust, genocide, massacre and bloody murder. Yet, according to the hunters' mind-set, animals are "game" who deserve to be killed. This "game" is void of rational thought, decency and kindness. It is, quite frankly, sociopath behavior. I've watched hunting/fishing shows on ESPN for more than 25 years.
I have to wait for the blood-shows to end weekend mornings before GENUINE sports shows air. I hear excitement in the hunters' voices before they pull the trigger or shoot the arrow. No need to fabricate the true reasons for deer-hunting, or any other animal-killing moment. Hunting and fishing are bloodsports, plain and simple. Additionally, hunters aren't exonerated from the killing because they do the killing themselves. It's makes them directly responsible instead of the accomplice meat-eater who pays someone else to commit the crimes. The latter is still unequivocally wrong and evil, but killing and harming directly shows more psychotic behavior than someone who cannot harm and kill directly.

You don't get it. Carnism isn't a thing. You're not making a point on 4chan. People eat emotionally. People eat what's marketed to them since it's the first thing that pops into their heads when they're hungry. Companies are powered by momentum. If money can be made somewhere they'll fall into the fallacy of sunk cost and continue to cut corners to spend as little as possible in production so that they may maximize profit. That's how almost all American manufacturing works, including meat and produce.

You have such a huge uphill battle against corporations that only care about their and their stockholders profit. You won't make a single difference with your insulting posts and shaming tactics here.

Do hunters eat their kills? Yes. But do hunters hunt for food? No! They hunt for the thrill of the kill. They receive a rush. A super-shot of adrenaline. It's bloodlust and dominance. It's arrogance and selfishness. It's hatred and brutality. It's dishonor and viciousness. It's murder and it's obscene.

Hunters always use the excuse that deer are going to starve to death during the winter as if starvation wasn't a natural process and nature's way of controlling populations and the ecosystem's way of working.

Starving deer provides food for scavenger animals and is nature's way of weeding out sickly animals and allowing the strongest ones to reproduce.

A bullet to the head or an arrow through the chest is not a solution to starvation. Furthermore, hunters don't even shoot starving deer. They don't make good trophies and don't have lots of meat.

I dare anyone to show me a photograph of one hunter last year who shot one emaciated deer. Just one. Hunters shoot big bucks with big racks for big trophies. Watch their TV shows on PBS and ESPN and TNN. That's all they talk about—big racks and big trophies.

I breed my own cute cuddly widdle wabbits.

Once they've grown to a sufficient size, I grab them by the hind quarters, and once they're calm, whack them in the back of the head with a nice thick stick. They have a sort of spasm and curl up, but immediately loose consciousness. Nose starts bleeding 9/10 times. Then I hang them upside-down from a cross-like wooden structure, and slice their heads off, which falls into the bucket. The blood is let to drain, and sometimes I collect it to use in a dish.

By squeezing the thighs against the legs and making downward force against the skin, it makes a clear tear around the knees. Doing this to all legs gives me a perfect, complete hide, which I save.

The belly is opened with a long shallow incision, taking care not to cut into any internal organs, especially the bladder and such. The liver and kidneys, which are both edible delicacies, are removed and stored separately. Everything else simply gets yanked out. Rabbit hearts keep beating well after a rabbit dies, did you know? I also stick a finger through the anus from inside the thorax, outwards, to get the last of the rectum and any hidden pieces of feces out.

Cut off the feet since they're useless, and you're done.

I prefer my bunnies roasted with plenty of subtle-flavored herbs. The livers and kidneys are cooked in a hot skillet with butter, with some cream, white wine and parsley added at the end.

I make small things like blankets out of the fur.

Come at me, vegan bro.

Hunting has become big business. Deer are not hunted to reduce populations, they are hunted to increase and keep populations high to satisfy hunters.
After so many years of hunting, hasn't it occurred to anyone why deer populations haven't decreased (except in the immediate aftermath of a hunting season)?

But nothing happens if you eat it and there's way too little CO in the meat even if you were to decide it to inhale the whole steak raw (which is impossible)

It's probably only dangerous for the people in the factory.

Some countries have it banned but I think it's because they see treating meat with CO as false advertising, the meat looks fresher while it doesn't have to be fresh at all.
Not because it's dangerous for consumers.

when America becomes a vegan nation, there will only be a few thousand cows, pigs, chickens and turkeys. At that point, we can set them free or give them a nice life at a sanctuary. The only other scenario would be the animal-killing conglomerates eradicating them completely. Extinction is a far better fate than perpetual slavery and an endless Holocaust.
It takes all social justice movements hundreds or thousands of years to achieve their goals of freedom. It took 400 years to end slavery in America. Most women weren't given the right to vote until 1920. Segregation wasn't abolished until the '60s. Sadly, the world is not going vegan overnight, so worrying about space for 10 billion land animals isn't even an issue.
And if you're wondering why the government doesn't care about speciesism—the belief that humans are superior to animals, which leads to the wanton killing of billions of animals—remember, this is the same racist and sexist government that for hundreds of years condoned slavery and segregation, and denied women the right to vote. The same heterosexist government that still denies equal rights to homosexuals. The same thieving government that murdered millions of Native Americans, and stole their land. I think you get the picture.

The meat, dairy and egg industries constitute three of the most powerful and profitable businesses on this planet. Since money makes our government churn, how can it even begin to promulgate the unhealthiness of animal products, and the immorality of killing billions of animals?
We should never rely on politicians to make the world a more ethical place. Only when we, collectively, climb out of our abyss of callousness, open up our circles of compassion, stop viewing animals as commodities and property, and start viewing them as family, will animals ever achieve the freedom they rightly deserve.
