Looks like a Chicago dog. Hot dogs are a consistently mediocre food. They are hard to fuck up but they're never actually good. Chicago Dog was the only time I've had where I thought it was gross. I have only been to Chicago once so I forget the specifics but I had it from 2 different well known places, prepared in the 2 different ways (steamed and ???) and it was gross both ways.

Have you had a cheesesteak within 50 miles of Philly. How do they compare to cheesesteaks?

I'm doing grad school in Chicago after doing undergrad in Philly. Never had a cheesesteak before moving there and I miss them because the only place outside of the immediate area that had decent ones was the authentic food outlier city known as New York. Italian beef seems to be something similar that looks simple but sucks outside of the immediate area

Thats what you get for being a sucker tourist and not doing any research. Chinks is best in the city but out of the way. Jim's is second best and more convenient to get to but most of the places on South street are halfway decent. I didn't like Tony Luke's, my favorite cheese is provolone but they use an extremely sharp kind. My friend who got a different type said it was good but not as good as the other two.
