It's the 21st century, why is this (pic-related) still allowed to happen?

Okay, time to cut through the crap. A few friends and I made an iOS app that we hope will prevent such scenarios from happening in the future.

/ck/ if you're bored and you have an iPhone, then help a brother out and give it a go:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pearl-21/id1035486249?ls=1&mt=8

Please be gentle, and let me know what you guys think.

OP here. An Android version in on the way. Developing for iOS was easier, but releasing it was hard. For Android it's the other way around. I know it's cool to hate on Apple here, so maybe I made a mistake. You live and learn though.

Society is truly doomed if people now need an "app" to tell them that fast food sucks. What's next? An app that tells you how to wipe your ass?

I know, it's a bit ironic since we want to help people identify the good shit with no bullshit glossed-up & shoop'd up ads.

few years ago there was a website with "advertising foto" VS "actual food picture" made from privat people from around 100 products.... was fun (and a bit disgusting) to watch

Not all fast food places suck, and not all sit-in restaurants are great either. It's really a mixed bag, and people should be able to know which places are legit and which places are ripoffs. No?

No. It's an untenable problem. For starters, every meal photographed is a unique one. Just because one meal was prepared incorrectly doesn't mean that all of them are. Trying to indicate which restaurants are good based on such a small and improperly managed sample set is useless. Furthermore, why the heck do you need an app to do this? Are people not capable of forming their own opinions these days without looking at their phone?

It sounds like what you should be posting about here is a WEBSITE that allows you to view and submit pictures of actual fast food so that it can be compared to the advertised image. While there have been many articles made on this subject it appears that nobody has made such a website yet.

>> No.6867352

You don't need an app to solve the problem. Every time, EVERY time I bring my food in to them to look at it when it's fucked up, I get a replacement. If the place does it consistently then you need to just contact whoever is in charge of that restaurant.

properly sampled is called quantity.
distributing an app to the public is a great way to do that, even if you'd have to be an idiot to believe you are getting anything like the picture ever. even fast food restaurants I like still embellish; take the habit. their burgers look good, and are generally properly stacked and put together, they don't really come at you in a mess. but the pictures do ye old diagonal stacking trick and use fake meat and vegetables so that the colors pop out extremely brightly.

OP here.

People can also use this app as a way of helping each other keep track of the inflation of goods both within their country, and outside their country.

The global markets are very volatile right now, and with it comes currency fluctuation, making the price of everyday goods difficult to predict. I think it would be nice for people to become informed via passively playing this guessing game.

>distributing an app to the public is a great way to do that

No it's not. Because you have no control over how stringent each "reviewer" is. You apply different standards to every "Sample". You also have to worry about people fucking with the results on purpose just like those false yelp reviews.

>>. but the pictures do ye old diagonal stacking trick and use fake meat and vegetables so that the colors pop out extremely brightly.

Since you already know this why do you need an app again?
