They done studies on mice and rats that show that on a minimized diet of low calories made up of carbs and sugar, the rodents were STILL gaining weight despite being in a calorie deficit. When they looked at their organs they saw that the high levels of glycogen was signaling the body to break down internal tissue and organs to make up for the deficit in order to store more fat.

There are also studies with infants on similar calorie formulas where one is low-fat high-carb and caused obesity in FUCKING BABIES as opposed to normal fat formulas. Babies CANNOT exercise, babies CANNOT be put on low caloric diets due to how fast they are growing.

Children for the same reason are developing type 2 diabetes which was unheard of 20-30 years ago. Children are as active as has always come naturally to them and once again, cannot be put on strict calorie deficits because they are growing at a rate that requires many calories or it risks stunting their development.

Japanese-Amerilard here, I've pretty much kept the same diet (rice to fill me up, meat, usually fish to add taste) when I moved to America.

However I walk a lot and bike to get to places. I rarely drive my car. I weigh about 150 lb

Wasn't my post but I've seen similar guidelines on certain paleo/primal diet sites. It's a bit overstated because it's not easy to overeat on proteins and fats because most people will get uncomfortable after a little while. to be on topic though, I don't really know anything about what the japanese actually eat, but I imagine they're big on rice over there. I've been told that they use tomatoes quite different from the way one does in north america, like in desserts and such. I can't attest to any of that as fact, I've just heard it.
