The value to people of being able to barbecue is almost certainly far higher than the value to other people of being able to stop them in order to prevent their feelings from being hurt.

The problem "I don't like you doing that in my presence" can be solved quite easily. The problem "I don't like you doing that anywhere, even when I can't see you doing it and am not discernibly affected by it in any way" cannot, but fortunately that problem is so small as to not be worth solving.
