I stopped reading because what you wrote is meaningless. "Bugs" are land invertebrates. Snails are molusks. You may as well say "The tree version of a snake".

Also I'm not French. Or even from a French speaking country.

When I was a kid my parents would take me to a french restaurant for special occasions. I would always ask for an order of the escargot, it was one of my most favorite things to eat as a kid. Partially because of the novelty of eating snails I guess.

But I haven't seen escargot on any menu in a long time, probably because french cuisine has really fallen out of favor with American eaters. Seems like it could be a labor-intensive dish to prepare as well, but maybe not.

the francophobia in this country confuses the fuck out of me

I'd like to assume it's not just because of the iraq war but when you listen to the kind of retarded reasons why french food is supposedly "bad", "pretentious", or "overrated", it usually boils down to they hate us for our freedoms

I'm glad I live in a city with enough of an international population where those kind of people don't determine the restaurant culture, but if I was in flyover land I guess the only non-wonder-bread options would be fogo de chao and the local "oriental" eatery

Snails are heavily seasoned in both French and Chinese cuisine, and for a good reason. They're chewy morsels coated in garlic butter (French style) or in chili and lime (Asian). Don't think anymore than that and you'll enjoy them.

I don't think it's francophobia.

French cuisine in America used to be associated with "fancy dining" which used to involve napkins folded a dozen different times and 5 different kinds of glasses at your table. People don't want that anymore. They still want haute cuisine, but not in the formal atmosphere it used to be served in. It's just a general restaurant trend.

>They still want haute cuisine, but not in the formal atmosphere it used to be served in

Which ironically is the thing that the Bongs really nailed in the 90's with Gastropubs, yet you just have to look at /ck/ to see that the general meme of "lol British food" still exists.

I don't know what my point is here.

the vietnamese had surprisingly good snails and shell fish when I went there. Like, really good, might be the best shellfish I've ever had despite coming from mega cheap street food markets

I'm actually craving it constantly I need to learn how they make it

I've written this here before but either you don't know what happened between the USA/UK and France/Libya back in the 1980's or you're plain stupid. I won't write it again because there's no point when you can look it up yourself.

Also your English is shit. Disagreeing with France doesn't make it a "phobe" as in afraid of them. We just think that they're fucking cunts. The less we have to do with them the better.

>> No.6803042

Escargot's pretty alright, a good safe meaty flavor. The real appeal is the garlic butter it gets served in though, and anybody that disagrees with that needs to either look inside themselves and accept the truth or are probably in France and regularly eat fine cuisine

Would anyone eat chicken wings/legs presented in such a way, no crispy skin and drowning in fat?
