>Day-to-day American food is more like, boxed pasta, salads, soups, sandwiches, cereals, eggs, canned stuff etc.
This is all for dinner as lunch is leftovers or sandwiches or some shit. and breakfast is often skipped, or just toast/cereal.
Most of what I eat, and my family eats, includes hamburger meat in some way. Be it tacos, hamburgers, manwich, or some hamburger helper type thing, though they stopped buying that awhile ago, and make their own meals now.
Also pizza about once every other week, not delivery though. My parents buy freezer stuff, where as I make my own.
Chicken is usually only bought as breasts, and put in a pan with some kind of sauce to be cooked in the oven. Alternatively it can be grilled.
Anything to do with steak is grilled, that shit doesn't touch a pan at any point in the process, and is never cooked indoors. The one exception to that is steak fingers, but I think those are fucking disgusting.
All fish is treated like catfish or fish sticks, which is to say usually battered and fried, regardless of what it is. Unless its sushi, but the only place to get that is an expensive Asian restaurant.
Pork is for bacon and sausage, and nothing else.
all meals have some kind of corn product as a side, and usually some kind of bean, though that can be substituted for fries and/or okra.
All meals will have ketchup or BBQ on the table, unless its Asian, in which case its both teriyaki and soy sauce because we don't know what they're supposed to go with and just pick one at random. But if you go out to eat, there's always a bottle of tobasco, even the McDs has a bottle by the napkins.
As for drinks, Sweet Tea at all times of the day, including breakfast. This is occasionally broken up with Dr.Pepper, or beer (Shiner Bock or Budweiser)

Eating out is either "country food" (chicken fried steak or similar), Texmex, or BBQ.

I know chicken is one of the biggest food items in the USA, so any variation of that is really popular. Chicken Noodle Soup is a seldom talked about dish that is very American in nature, and just simple roast chicken, chicken wings, chicken salads, fried chicken, tendies, can be found at pretty much every restaurant.

The midwest/front range, has a huge cattle industry, so ground beef and steak is everywhere, hence burgers. only recently I discovered how to make american chop-suey, which is macoroni, ground beef, tomato sauce and peppers, with maybe a little bit of cheese.

lots of pork stuff too, especially bacon which for some reason is eaten with eggs at breakfast. Ham is popular on sandwiches.

Cheese is everywhere too, like more than half of these images have melted cheese somewhere. I'd guess it's because of a populous of German/English/Scandinavian descendants that makes it so popular, also very specific to the region it's trying to emulate. Italian: lots of hard and soft white cheeses, mexican: moterey jack, pepper cheese and cheddar, sandwiches have american(cheese)/provolone/Swiss

fish is a rarity in the middle of the country, but around the south and east of the nation, lots of catfish and lake/river fish like trout, bass, crawfish.

Everything else is usually some form of wheat to tie the meal together, and simple veggies on the side, like corn, lettuce salads, broccoli, peas and carrots.

ice-cold soda and watery beer is everywhere too, and coffee shops seem to be the current national favorite. Tea is gaining popularity, and I'd say things like snack-cakes, candy bars are losing popularity.

The onion burger is another Oklahoma specialty. It's hamburger topped with an equally amount of very thinly sliced onions as it cooks on a flat top grill. Once the underside of the burger is cook the whole assembly is flipped so that onions are directly in contact with the heat. It was invented during the Great Depression (which this region especially hard) as a way to stretch meat supplies. In a happy accident the technique result a char on the exposed beef top and onion bottom while effectively steaming the inner meat and onions to tender perfection.

It's traditionally served on a bun with only mustard and they are good that way. But I didn't grow when a bun with mustard was a luxury so I step it up and get mine with cheese and mayo as well.

Good brisket is hard to find irl, there's a million bbq joints in my city all claim to have the bomb diggity but half of them flat out suck and half the other half is mediocre on a good day. I suspect the ultra long cooking times to do it right make it unprofitable.

i thought you were asking if there were literally deserts the size of states scattered across the north american continent.

it would explain our obesity.

brb gonna go visit the great pecan pie of texas and gnaw on it for a while with my friends. its only 24% depleted it should last another 140 years unless the illegals just make camp around the southern face of the Pie and dig at it with pickaxes to feed all their kids.

just pie then or whatever. I think the rest of it a rock solid menu. you can make the sauce and the tater salad up to 2 or 3 days ahead. then when you're ready for your dinner all you have to sear the meat, slow cook in the over for a few hour then drink beer until it's time to slice tomatoes and eat.

Indiana's state pie is "sugar cream pie", I have lived in Indiana for over 30 years and have only seen one sugar cream pie, ever. It looked like a custard pie, I spit it out as it was disgusting.

I've moved a lot for work, I've lived in South Bend, Ft. Wayne, Lafayette, New Albany, Bloomington and Terre Haute all over the state (never Indy) and i don't know anyone that eats it?

I look at this pic, and not only is the brisket dry and looks like a couple bacon strips, the whole plate looks so tiny. It's hard to tell, but that small butter container makes me see how small that plate is; those things are about an inch wide. BBQ in America isn't gourmet, so you shouldn't get away with this little sampler dish of small ribs, a dipping cup of 'pulled pork' and a couple fried whatever. Southern cuisine is essentially meat and sugar

I bet that dish is like 12 bucks and that makes me sick. One of the reasons BBQ is irrelevant outside of the south because there are so many better options.

El Reno has the best onion burger shack IMO.

There's Dan's Old Time Diner on the southside that's pretty good and cheap.

Unfortunately, people like to go to Tucker's Onion Burgers which is like 10 bucks a person and it doesn't have that same classic flavor. It lacks that cheap greasiness and they go pretty light on the onions.

Pic related: Robert's Grill in El Reno. Guy has been cooking burgers perfectly for 50 years.
