It's not a question of ability, but of demand.

They (as they erroneously think of themselves, "real americans") confuse quantity for quality because they don't know what quality food tastes like. They have no frame of reference. So if you show them something like pic related, they get anxious and say something about I'll still be hungry, why can't we have more toppings, etc.

The food that flyovers are accustomed to is not nutritionally dense at all, and has no flavor. When flavor is added, using brightly colored chemical powders, it's given a distinctive name like EXTREME or some such thing. So it's a valid concern on their part. They don't have any reason to believe they won't go into a diabetic coma moments after eating, followed by hypoglycemia an hour later. And since it does not say WARNING: YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TASTE, they expect it will taste roughly like miracle whip on shredded frozen string beans (a midwestern staple)

Pizza in flyover land is not pizza as we know it. It's sugar bread (I forgot to mention their flour is all low protein because all leavened bread must have the consistency of wonder bread or it's pretentious). It's fried in perhaps palm oil or something; a foodie hipster in flyover land risked getting beaten up by his peers for being pretentious and tried to ask Mondelez for the answer, but he was instantly arrested for violating Ag-gag laws (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ag-gag).). So we don't really know and anyway they would still eat it so what difference does it make. And the "red" sauce is not legally permitted to be called tomato sauce. But it doesn't matter because it's MEAT LOVER SUPREME which means it has at least 4 different varieties of pink slime salted and colored in different ways before shaping and deep frying. Where else would they get their protein?

If your whole pizza experience is fluffy bread-like crusts, bland orange sauce, and the cheapest cheeses, you're gonna crank out more of the same.
And it's not limited to pizza. I've had the blandest "chinese" food known to man in flyover country. "Beef fried rice" that wasn't fried much, with beef and egg. That's it. No onion, no bean sprouts, no flavor. And the locals lap it up.

New York pizza is the worst pizza. I go to NY half a dozen times a year and it's nothing but dull people with civic pride about giant slices of chain pizza.

"Mama mia, it's authentic tomato sauce and gen-u-ine mozarella cheese, just-a like Ma used to make!"

Of course, pointing out that every chain in America uses tomato sauce and mozarella as their default, as opposed to period blood and powdered fish feed, results in "Well you haven't been to Papa Pepes/Little Luigis/Tony Zippos" and insistence that the LAST 18 'world famous' pizza joints were actually shitty tourist traps.

I've lived in both. Not that I want you moving here, but NY and NJ have much better produce than your monoculture garbage.

There's no demand for anything other than so-called "normal" [sic] food in flyover land. If you showed someone something as pedestrian as a purple carrot they would freak out and call the health department.

It's apparently too arduous a task for 23.2% of New York residents, a full 6% above the national average of 17.6%.

But don't worry, it also has lower college attendance and graduation rates! And lower median income.

It's almost like New Yorkers think that because there are a bunch of $200,000 earning people living in the not-shit part of the city, that the rest of them aren't eating pink slime cheesy bread made with imported frankentomatoes.

You do realize that the majority of NY which is not NYC is pretty good farmland, right? Parts of upstate NY and even Long Island have huge farms which grow all sorts of things. Produce that I get from farmers markets when visiting family on LI is always quality. New york is a huuuuge state that most people not from NY forget or dont know about, because nyc is so prevalent.

I can't speak for NJ but outside of the northern part of the state it gets pretty damned rural, I wouldn't be surprised if there are a ton of farms.

But stay mad, only shows your insecurity and unwillingness to realize that other regions grow good produce.

Not necessarily, there are certain things which fare well in NY, such as apples, which is why NY came to be associated with them. Stuff like bananas or mangos don't do too well, but then they wouldn't do well in the upper Midwest either. In fact, I'd bet northern NY and a place like northern Michigan probably have similar climates and growing seasons.

Have you been to NY outside of NYC for any substantial amount of time? Have you tried produce around here, year in and year out? If you haven't, shut the fuck up. I've never lived in the Midwest and have only been to Chicago once, so you can be damn sure I'm not spewing opinions about that produce because I don't fucking know.

NYC should secede and let LI and the rest of NY just be its own thing. Most of NYC is smelly, loud, too bright, and overwhelming. I'd only live in certain parts of Brooklyn or Queens, and that's only if I was forced to. On the whole NYC is a nice place to visit and not a very nice place to live unless you want traffic noises right outside your window at 5 am, people partying outside till 4 am, and to be surrounded by ugly concrete juggernauts of buildings.

I mean sure they have the poor black women swearing, and they have something horrible called "italian beef", and a few other local specialties that no one in his right mind would take pride in, but realistically speaking it's deep dish and craft beer

Needless to say, this is not the case for NY

Where can you get Turkish food in Chicago? How about Vietnamese? Ethiopian? Afghani? Korean? Indian (north or south)? Can you get them at 330 AM, should you wish to?

Chicago does not have as many different types of cuisine because it doesn't have as many different kinds of people. NYC was an immigration hub for a long time so there are more variances in demographics. This is just a fact.

But honestly I have to say I really liked Chicago when I visited. However if people in Chicago are half as shitty as the people who claim to be from there on this board then I have no desire to go back. It's because you have never been to Madison or Minneapolis. Ian's and Mesa make the greatest stuff on the planet.

You ever wonder what would happen if pizza had an identity crisis? Have you ever had steak and mashed potatoes on your pizza? Have you ever seen a bunch of stoners just make the weirdest pizza in the world?

OFC not because you're shitposting on 4chan

WHY DO THEY ALWAYS CUT THE PIZZAS INTO SQUARES.

Jesus Christ. The middle pieces are impossible to eat. There's no crust to hang onto and all the toppings fall off. Who the flying fuck ever thought this was a good idea?

Last year I went to the US and ended up driving around the desert around New Mexico.
Some old timer tried telling me that some of the rocks were carved by Spanish priests in the late 1600s and were treasure markers.
Not sure if he was pulling my plonker or what.
