Going to Chicago for a week (idk, I guess Lincoln Park, magnificient mile area)

Anywhere I really have to eat or get drinks?

I've never even had a deep dish pizza, so even if it isn't the best thing I've got to get a couple.

some places I've thought to try:
Au Cheval
Smoque BBQ
Pequod's
Girl and the Goat if I can somehow walk in and get a table
lou malnati's

Thanks!

Go to the Boiler Room in Logan Square for dank pizza, tasty beers, and cute hipster babes.

Whatever you do, don't go to Big Bowl.

Eataly looked pretty rad but it's money.

I live here. Food is really great if you can find it.

Lou Malnati's is great for deep dish. I'm not the biggest fan of deep dish though.

There's a place called fogo2go that has $8 all you can eat pizza on wednesday.

For breakfast food, Wildberry is the best. The wait can be a bit longer on weekends, but the longest I've waited was 25 minutes. There's also millenium park right next to it.

Smoque BBQ is really far from where you are. There's really no need to go out of your way.

If you only want pizza once, pick Lou's. If you want to try multiple deep-dish places, I'd suggest Lou's and Pizzeria Due. Pequod's is good too, but I would put it behind these.

If you feel like an expensive meatgasm, Fogo de Chao is great, but they're a nationwide chain (not a large chain, but still a chain) so there may be one near wherever you live, too. I would suggest going there for lunch rather than dinner, as the price is a hell of a lot more reasonable. IMHO the salad bar is a better reason to go than the constant outpouring of meats.

You should go to Little Bucharest. It's a great Romanian restaurant.

Au Cheval is good, but it's known for it's ridiculous wait times. Basically you put your name down when you get there, then find some way to kill 4 hours and wait for them to call you back when your table is ready (for which you have like 10 minutes to get back). The place has a really great ambiance too.

Deep dish pizza is an overrated tourist trap. Most pizza places in the city don't even offer it.

Smoque BBQ comes highly recommended, but I've never been there. BellyQ is a really great restaurant. Saigon Sisters makes really good bahn mi sandwiches (Pastoral also makes really excellent sandwiches as well, hands down the best place for them in the loop). Hmm... trying to think of some more places. I just moved back to the city after a 2 year hiatus. Maria's is a great little beer bar in Bridgeport. CH Distillery is a great place for cocktails and small plates. I would also recommend The Publican and Nico Osteria There's also some of the more famous places like Avec and Blackbird, Grace, Alinea, etc if you have the cash to dosh out.

There really aren't many good bars/restaurants in the Loop area, and in the evening you typically have to go west to Randolph street/Fulton market area or north to river north, lincoln park, etc.

Go to Longman and eagle in Logan Square for brunch. Chicken and waffles is too good. Plus they mix the best old fashioned.

I go to a restaurant looking for something to eat, not something to analyze.

Go to a real restaurant, and The Art Institute of Chicago afterwards.

I feel like Longman and Eagle is passe. I went there about a year ago. The whole "molecular gastronomy" thing is getting very old. Nowadays people want simple, but fresh ingredients prepared in unique ways. No need to be overly complicated.
