This only works when you're buying a product. In the case of his channel he is the product. This is not a TV show which has a format and you buy the rights to the name etc and pay the faces a salary. The face of the show is the show. Buying the show and putting him on a salary makes no sense since the guy will have no motivation to produce good content. Even if you buy a percentage of the show you're lowering the motivation for the star to work.

If the ownership model did apply to YT channel why hasn't anyone bought them yet? I'm sure Pewdiepie etc rake in enough to be lucrative.
