I think OP used a very poor choice of wording, but I do agree that McDonald's fountain drinks are usually better TASTING than other fast food joints. I think it's because they constantly replace the syrup when it's running out, and they probably do a better job of monitoring the Co2 levels. I wish they still served Mr. Pibb, it was always amazing there. I think Carl's Jr usually has the worst tasting Coke whenever I go there, though I'm sure it may just be due to this particular location sucking in general.

We have several of these at my work. The syrup comes in what looks like printer cartridges and uses about 30 different ones to make up all the combinations. Its neat to play with but after a while you get over it. Plus some of the drinks dont taste right.. like off the top of my head the Mellow Yellow tastes like shit compared to a normal fountain we have also.

Plus if you are at one and want to be a jerk go to the water page(tab?) and in the top right corner(i think) poke the screen into the shape of a triangle and it takes you to the control menu. Older software you have to push a specific order of the bubbles in the background image.

I work at Mcdonalds, there's a shelf out the back with boxes of syrup and hoses routed to all the machines through a pump. I don't know if they do it in every country but you should try the lemon lime and bitters (sprite with lemon lime and bitters syrup in it)

Really I'm just talking about the ratio of the flavoring syrup to the CO2 and water, that they somehow seem to master with the Mountain Dew Code Red at movie theaters as opposed to other places. I almost never get fountain Code Red anywhere else, but it's a requirement at movies. The only problem is that if I get shot at the theater no one will be able to tell if I got hit or if I spilled my drink.
