If poverty is your motivation for eating fast food you're still wasting money. Even a meal from the value menu will still be about $3 to put together. If you're making beans and rice you can get 2-3 meals out of about a dollar's worth of groceries.

Do that and save the Wendy's as a treat (if you actually like it). You'll be healthier and wealthier that way.

It turns out he was actually cheating to gain that much weight as he did in Supersize Me.

Based purely off his supposed caloric intake, he couldn't have gained so much weight and deterioted in health so severely just from a month of poor eating.
No one else has been able to replicate his results by eating the same amount as supposed in the documentary.

He's also never published his logs of the food that he ate, so it's even harder to confirm.

I work there and while I obviously spend less they do have decent food as opposed to others. Grilled chicken is good and the wraps are cheap, side salads are cheap. Chili is really filling and here we have broccoli to put on the potatoes as well. And the half salads are only 4 something, and here's a protip I've dumped one in a full size bowl... They are the same size. You're basically getting charged extra for another half pc ofchicken and an extra dressing.

Like don't do it everydY and stay awAy from their XXL bacon n cheese shut and it's decently good for you. I recommend shopping too though dude.

This is true. No one has been able to replicate the results of the "study" conducted, even under lab conditions. I read about some Swedish college kids who replicated the experiment, putting away up to 6600 calories a day - 1600 more than Spurlock was supposedly consuming - in fast food to record the results. Most participants didn't gain half the weight reported in the documentary, or suffer any major negative health effects. That can't be said for everyone, of course, and of course it's a bullshit idea to gorge yourself on fast food like a glutton and expect nothing to happen. But fast food makes a bad enough name for itself without making shit up along the way.

This is so fucking retarded. What are you cooking that's going to cost that much more because you're cooking for one? I mean there's the energy cost to consider, if you're cooking 2 baked potatoes at a time instead of 20, but the food itself doesn't vary that much, except for things that are available in huge bulk sizes (e.g. a 5 gallon jug of salsa, or a 20 pound sack of rice...although if you eat rice regularly 20 pounds is the way to go even cooking for one).

>> No.6745224

>>6745206
Here's the facts: An 8 oz serving of Powerade has normally about 50 calories.

Coke has 97 calories per 8 oz serving.

The thing is: how often do you buy an 8oz cup of soda? Most restaurants sell it in 22-32 oz settings, meaning you are tripling the calories or quadrupling them.

That means you're getting 150 calories from Powerade alone. Except that those calories don't make you feel FULLER, they just hit your sugar fix. (which does have some actual problems. Look into "Fed Up" for a recent documentary asserting that sugar is the main problem with today's food.)

But if you don't like plain water, it can suck to try and changes to that. I recommend this instead: If you slice two whole lemons, and a whole cucumber into a gallon container of water, do you know how many calories you have? roughly 74 calories. Total. In a gallon, aka 16 cups of water. And that's assuming you ATE the entire cucumber over the course of drinking it all.

That leads to a per cup serving of ~4.5 calories. That's a tenth of what you were drinking from the Powerade.

It's not easy, but it IS better.

>> No.6745245

from a nutritional standpoint (you know, nutrition, the purpose of food) there is no such thing as cheap fast food.

eggs, oats, dry beans, peanuts/peanut butter, milk, potatoes...altogether under $20 and you'll be fed for at least a month.

A single burger if you extract the cost comes down to very cheap, but you can't buy 1 slice of tomato, 10 cents worth of chopped onions, etc. Food goes bad so unless you want to eat the same thing multiple days in a row it needs to be frozen and most food sucks after its been frozen

You know no one has been able to replicate the results of that documentary, right?

Matter of fact a college professor had his students replicate the supposed 5,000 calorie a day diet, and aside from feeling a little more tired than usual, they didn't have any of the adverse health effects the documentary claimed the guy had at the end of one month.

>> No.6747182

As a former student from a poor family:

Dried pasta can be bought in bulk quite cheaply.
Get some mayo, frozen diced spinach, and tins of tuna.
Then add/buy spices (schwartz is best) to add extra flavour. With a decent spice rack, anything can be tasty.
Throw in veggie mexican bean burgers now and then to add extra filling.

Buy tins of veg. They are actually usually decent or good quality in water.
Seriously, peas, various types of beans, sweetcorn, mushrooms, carrots...

Buy rice and noodles cheap for variety, as pasta can get boring.

Eating "healthy" tends to cost more because people go over the top and buy the freshest stuff they can from places that aren't that cheap (muh quality)

You can also keep various veg and regrow them at home, notably mushrooms, potatoes, onions etc.

Going to fast food places is actually a trap. It seems cheap, but its actually more expensive than you think, and will fuck your diet up, often making you want to eat more of it, so it gets more expensive.

McDonalds has MSG in the fries to make you want more. I would guess other fast food places use it too.

>> No.6747220

>people who think fast food is cheap
just eat peanut butter you fucking retard
it tastes great and there's at least 2500 calories per pound of it (which you can buy anywhere for around 2 to 3 dollars)

>> No.6747234

Wendy's is NOT cheap. $6 for a chicken sandwich? You can buy 6 sandwiches worth of chicken at that price. With one measly slice of tomato and one leaf of lettuce per sandwich, you can also buy ONE head of greens, ONE tomato, and still make 6 sandwiches and maybe a shitty salad.

Cheap food is rice and beans with seasonal veggies. Pasta and canned tomatoes can be made into delicious italian food in about half an hour.

Eggs are pretty cheap. I always get the big free range ones but if you don't mind slightly smaller, weaker eggs then you can get battery hen eggs for next to nothing. They're extremely versatile too, there must be a million dishes that use eggs as a main ingredient and most of them are pretty easy.

The main way I combine eggs and rice is by making egg fried rice though, and that's probably not the healthiest way to go about it.

Also, If you can find cans of tuna on special offer, that stuff can be quite cheap and protein-rich too but I wouldn't make it a staple because of mercury.

Thare are almost certainly nutrients present in beans that you don't get from eggs or tuna though, though, so the best advice I can give is to keep your diet as varied and balanced as possible.

I used to do a similar thing with big grocery chains and big brand foods about 15 years ago. No idea if it still works, but:

>buy stack of envelopes and stamps
>buy various products
>eat products
>invent flaw with products (hair, fingernail in food, missing component, stale from improper storage etc.)
>write letters of complaint including where and when purchased
>send letters of complaint (with packaging) to the addresses on the packages
>wait
>receive coupons and cheques in post, varying from £3 to £15 each

The grocery chain own brand products gave the best payoff. They'd be vouchers for the entire store so I could get anything and they'd be worth £10-15, whereas Mars(TM) only gave £3 vouchers to be used for a dozen different Mars(TM) products.

When I handed in my voucher at the checkout the lady knew exactly what I'd been up to though and I live in a small town so it was a bit embarrassing. I don't do it any more because it's basically theft, but I've never had much sympathy for multi-national corporations.

I can't advocate anyone do this because it's against 4chan rules to encourage breaking the law (I'm sure it's technically low-level fraud).
