I can, but I cook to my tastes. I mostly do Italian as my Dad was born there, Indian and Mexican. I like to think I'm good, but drunk/high college kids will eat anything.

Same here. If most of the people here really eat all the shit they post, I'd blow them out of the water with my cooking.

I can make tasty things... I have a pretty solid understanding of a good handful of regional flavours and cooking techniques - especially Italian, French, Japanese, Mexican, Spanish, Indian, North African, Caribbean, and Iberian. I've got a good handle on fusing cuisines around a single common ingredient, and I can handle and plan out busy, complicated meals with hard-to-handle people, like my family.

I run the kitchen at Thanksgiving. I'm in charge of the turkey and gravy from beginning to end, planning, execution, plating, timing, keeping my drunk-ass parents in line and on the line when necessary, and keeping a nice buzz going myself because it's Thanksgiving, and I deserve to celebrate my victory over my parents. They're not bad cooks, I just make a living doing event catering.

It took me until I was 28 to learn to cook.

I have been living independently of my parents since 17 but never put the time into learning as take away and convenience foods (that cam be microwaved or heated on stove top) are about the same price as cooking for 1.

Once I learned to cook I drealised there is a lot of convenience in knowing how to combine random ingredients. Also you get a better quality and healthier meal if you make it yourself.

Overall, I am glad I finally learned to cook and I can safely say its not too late to learn.

I'm 32 now and still consider myself to be intermediate level. There is always something more to learn.

I cook every meal, everyday. A few months back, I ate take out pizza and pepperoni rolls because I was visiting with some friends.

My friends prefer coming here and eating my food. My reputation was built on my beef ribs and baby back ribs. Although, I'd personally say my filet mignon is the best. I just have a couple of friends with babby palates who don't like rare meat. But 100% of them love my ribs!

First step is to warm up the oven. Prepare the meal. Taste it as it warms up further. Adjust ingredients. Etc...
