I agree with the fat OP. I have no idea how anyone manages to stomach a well done steak.

I find rare steak has an earthy taste comparable to the smell of cooking mushrooms which I dislike.

Steak should only ever be eaten medium rare. Only trailer trash and lower class plebs would eat it any differently. Ketchup is a sin, like any other sauce. Steak should be eaten with salt and pepper only.

What do you use?

>> No.6730483

Well, it is. I mean, if you're buying cheap as fuck supermarket steaks, cook it how you want, it's gonna be shit no matter what. But if you're cooking an expensive cut past med-rare, you're literally throwing away your money, because you could have bought a cheap cut and it would have tasted the same.

I'm a guy who grew up vegetarian because of parents, and I am just not used to the food habits of non-vegetarians, and I cannot eat a steak that isn't medium well atleast, unless its been marinated for while and is soft.

Eh, if its a bad cut then a little garlic can save it, but otherwise you're right. Im not even sure where steak sauce comes from.

If you like your meat well done then stick to braised dishes. It is a waste of money buying an expensive cut to cook it well done.
