What happened to subway? When they first opened in Canada close to 20 years ago, they were pretty decent. Now the only thing that's edible there is stuff like meatball subs and whatever their current special advertised one is (or I guess a vege one?).

I got a spicy Italian sub from them a couple of years ago and it was the worst excuse for cold cuts I have ever experienced in my life. The "salami" was literally a red waxy material with no flavour of meat or anything in it with the occassional circle of I guess pork fat in it, which almost had no taste. It was literally like someone had made a "sausage" out of the red wax they wrap those little cheeses in and then sliced some up and served it to me.

I get a footlong veggie delight on honey-oat bread with only one scoop of tuna spread along it evenly. Salt and pepper and light mustard on the tuna, avocado slices atop that with swiss cheese atop that, not toasted. Lettuce and spinach along the bottom, tomatoes, cucumbers and pickles along the top. Bellpeppers, onions, olives, and cilantro atop the spinach and lettuce, oregano tops it off. Throw it in the fridge for about 30 minutes and when ready to eat, dispense oil and vinegar.

Fuck that shit. The "chicken breast" is texturized chicken paste cast in the shape of actual cuts of chick. The Italian meats are a variable mess of salt and cheapest possible animal (usually turkey). The bead also smells like the hydrocarbon fumes from my 3D printer.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck at a train station every couple of months at the wrong time of day. I get a lean meat and load it with mustard and vegetables until it tastes like a bad salad. HEARTBURN EVERY TIME.
