Potato thread.

Cheap, nutritious, satiating.

What's your favorite way to prepare them? What is your favorite type of potato (sweet, russet, etc.)? What other foods do you like to eat them with?

Any and all preparation methods/recipes are appreciated!

Best way that I've found to use old taters that are a little bit wrinkled (or fresh ones, delicious either way): grate them, then soak in cold water for an hour. Wring them dry in a salad spinner or a cloth, then heat up a frying pan and melt some butter. Add the spuds, some salt and pepper, and cook till golden brown on the bottom. Flip and repeat seasoning/cooking. Mum raved about these glorified hash browns when I made them a couple weeks ago for her birthday breakfast.

Try some grillin' fries! Cut them like normal wedge fries, toss them in olive oil, add your favorite seasoning (I like something spicy & something salty), microwave them for a few minutes to get them halfway cooked, and then throw em on the grill with whatever else your cooking to get some of dat smokey grilled flavor & color. You won't even want ketchup if you put some good seasoning on them.

Favorite is sweet potatoes, baked until they're soft and sweet.

For practical purposes I usually just boil them though. White potatoes also best for soup.

If potatoes are slightly wrinkled soaking them (after grating) will make them like new.

No, soaking washes away all the starches on the outside, and you end up with limp, soggy hash browns.
