Most Asian buffets are okay. They sometimes serve pizza and shit though, probably for kids (I hope).

Golden Corral is like going to Wal-Mart and eating everything from the frozen food section.

The expensive Indian buffets are overpriced and sometimes sub-par, the moderately priced ones have better food.

I've been to one Italian buffet and they were making fresh pizza but serving boxed cake.

Indian buffet 9/10, Asian and Italian 7/10, Golden Corral starvation/10. And I'm not fat, just tall and can eat a lot.

not a buffet but I go to this sushi place that's all you can eat and it's good quality

I think between two people the most we order is about 6 or so rolls+sushi so it's a pretty good deal since we end up paying about 50 for the both of us instead of paying 10-15 per roll.

the quality of the fish is pretty good and the service is always really good, qts everywhere. they offer you free ice cream when you're done and the chefs greet you when you come in and leave.

10/10 go there every couple of weeks.

The only buffet I've ever been to has been the one at the Barona Casino in San Diego
Since I'm not a big seafood fan (they sometimes have crab legs), the only thing I ever liked to get was the Mongolian BBQ

I ate at a Vietnamese buffet in Houston when I was on a road trip. That shit was God-tier. They even brought out a mini propane burner to your table on request so you could do hot pot. Fully a third of their buffet line was dedicated to stuff you could cook at your table.

We put loads of work into making the food as good as possible, we had pulled pork which had been marinated for 24 hours, roast beef perfectly cooked, fist sized potatoes (not baked potatoes) cooked in our oven with olive oil and salt.
Amazing oven baked salmon, chicken thighs seasoned 2 god damn good, ribs slow-cooked 12 hours prior. Loads of amazing shit.
Every day when the kitchen closed, the staff got to take everything that was left over or it was thrown in the trash.

The only thing I ever really get at Golden Corral is the salad. I just load up on lettuce, ham, turkey, cheese, mushrooms, bacon, croutons, carrots, and then ranch dressing. I could eat nothing but that. Everything else is insanely mediocre except for maybe the gravy for the mashed potatoes which I also put on their mediocre fries.

There's a Jap restaurant here called Hibachi that I like. I usually just get beef and broccoli, fried rice, general tso's chicken, those pork skewers, and those golden chicken things. Sometimes I get peppered beef. I'll sometimes get a steak and onions/mushrooms from their grill, but I ask them to make it spicy.

Haven't been to either of these places in years. My mouth is watering.

Why do buffets have so little in the way of veterinarian dishes? Is it secretly more expensive or something to have more veggies or are they just not eaten as much?

Self-serve buffets which have maguro sashimi laid out are literally swept clean by me.

I enjoy buffets. Some are better than others of course. Pic related is some crab legs at a casino buffet in Lake Charles, LA. The trick is to find out when they switch from breakfast to lunch/dinner and go a few minutes before. That way you get in at the breakfast price ($14.99 in this instance, compared to $35 for dinner) and you get both types of food. I ate so many king crab legs that day.

Lately I've been seeing a lot of AYCE sushi placed popping up. They're a great deal especially if they serve all the appetizer stuff as well as sushi and nigiri. Went to one last week and had grilled salmon collar, udon, curry rice, shrimp tempura, salmon skin salad, gyoza, a couple rolls and about 20 or 30 pieces of various nigiri. The fish quality is usually good, not great. But for $24.95 it's worth it

Dinner buffet at most casinos is a madhouse anyways. Usually a ridiculous line out the door, hustle and bustle when you finally get inside. I can't even remember the last time I went to a buffet. They really gross me out. There's really no way a buffet can actually be good, they all suffer the same flaw of food sitting in big pans under warming lights, slowly degrading the quality as the clock ticks. I live in vegas, so they're abundant. It's really hit or miss, not just on the particular restaurant, but the days you come in. Places I like most of the time, may have a new guy in and an experienced guy out that day, and it's all shit that day. I always ask if I can go look around before I decide to pay. That's really the best advice I can offer is to go in before you pay.

I also never order a drink because I don't need extra calories on top of a goddamn buffet. As a result I always give the tip straight to the bus boy as he passes by before I leave because the waitress/waiter literally did nothing but seat me. I don't know why they don't just give customers access to the soda machine and have 1 or 2 people for seating. They could eliminate 1/3 of their superfluous staff that basically just beg people for money all day.
