What's a dessert (of smaller portion) that tastes just like a Wedding cake?

almond vanilla cake?

wedding cakes are just more tiers and layered with fondant which imo taste like garbage and helped kill respect for proper cakes in this country. traditionally it has almonds either in the cake or almond flavoring somewhere.

>make vanilla butter-cake
>add tsp of almond extract
>thin layer of swiss buttercream icing
>use very thin marzipan instead of fondant and place over icing
>WA LA

If it were me I would go even more traditional and add candied orange peel and booze soaked currants to the batter.

So, while we're on the topic of tiered cakes, does anything think I'd be able to make 100% edible cake dowels instead of the straws or wood dowels everyone else uses?
I'm talking something like a hard nougat, tempered chocolate, or harder caramel to give support.
Any thoughts?

You could bake a cookie dowel, like pic related.

That would just get soggy and collapse. I'm saying do you think I could make a nougat, caramel, or tempered chocolate dowel
