Looking for a sour cream substitute that isn't sour/tangy as my boyfriend does not enjoy the taste (he also does not like cream cheese or Greek yogurt). I'd be incorporating it into recipes. I was thinking about using mascarpone instead.

Applesauce instead of butter is pretty good when it comes to lemon pound cake.
