/ck/ how the fuck do i make good rice? i use a rice cooker and i've been experimenting for the past week and i just can't get it right. i've used chicken broth and bouillons, soy sauce, eggs, sriracha, various spices. i've added beans and mixed vegetables as well, but no matter what it always tastes bad. i have to force myself to eat it though because if i don't i'll starve.
any tips or fullproof methods?

What kind of rice are you using?

I could eat jasmine rice plain right out of the pot and think it tastes incredible. I don't know what kind of shit you're dealing with here. Rice is supposed to have a very mild taste and shouldn't be offensive at all.

Nice dubs/trips.

I'm not sure brown rice really takes well to all those seasonings, and it definitely has a stronger flavor and different texture compared to white rice - I hardly know shit about brown rice though. I've never particularly liked the texture of it so I could imagine it might taste weird.

Maybe give white rice a shot.

Also: brown rice actually spoils after some amount of time, unlike white rice, so make sure you're not using expired shit.

I always wash the rice first and then boil it in a regular pot till it's tender enough for me. I also use brown rice, on it's own it just tastes well plain and sort of earthy. I been putting some teriyaki sauce on mine every time and it tastes fine for me. Try that out with some mixed vegetables if you want, I'm sure it can't possibly turn out that bad at worst. I eat a lot of rice and bread myself cause it's easy to stock up on. Sauces are your best friend with plain rice when you don't got much else.

alright, i have a bag of white rice but i never really thought to try it instead. also thanks for the tip about it spoiling, i thought that shit lasted forever.
>>6622015
i wasn't a fan of it by itself which is why i started adding shit, i may just be adding too much stuff. i already add mixed vegetables, a lot of times i'll just pick the vegetables out and then scrap the rice lmao.

what rice cooker do you have?
do you still have the manual that came with it?
when was the last time you thoroughly cleaned the rice cooker?
is the rice old?
does the water you're using have an off odor to it?

somewhat, how much would you recommend i use? i only use a couple of pinches.

If you have a cheap shitty ass rice cooker it will only cook rice + water, that's it. Adding anything else (during cooking in the rice cooker) throws off the detection in cheap machines and it can't tell when the rice is actually done.

Or some shit, that's the case with my cheap rice cooker. If you want to do fancy shit with your rice water buy a better one.

>i have no idea, some target shit
there should be a name or logo on the cooker
>yes
read the manual
most of the time there's a recipe and trouble shooting section in there
>since i bought it
just be sure to keep it clean
>possibly...
try different rice
>no it smells like water
okay

yeah i've noticed that, i usually test it and force it to cook shorter / longer but obviously i have no idea what's actually right

i think next time i'm going to make just white rice and water and see where to go from there

i do pilaf method.

get like three tablespoons of oil going in the pot then dump the rice &salt on, stir until the rice stats to lighten a bit. when that happens add the water and let it boil until you dont see water any more. then turn the heat off and cover and let stand 15 minutes. makes p good rice, faggot.

whenever I added vegetables what I would do is cook the vegetables in a pan first, then cook my rice in a pot, and then throw the rice in there when it was done, and then add my sauce. Always turned out fine

If there was any meme about brown rice I have completely avoided it somehow cause I never heard such a thing. Can't say I'm upset about that though.
