That's a spiegelau ipa glass, you're right it's a pretty stupid design and the glass is thin as shit so if I did knock it over it'd probably smash.

I actually used the stout to deglase the pan I cooked the onion and sausage in so the gravy ended up a bit dark but tasted pretty good, mushed it into the potato so funny gravy didn't really matter.

I'm trying to figure that out right now. I'm high and I worked out today so I have this weird like... appetite but I'm not feeling too hungry. I ate lunch, but I'm debating what to do for dinner, if I want to go out and get something or cook. Oddly not in the mood to cook but sort of in the mood to cook. I normally like cooking stoned. I don't know what's my deal tonight.

I whipped this together. Not sure what to call it but it tastes wonderful.

Ingredients: broccoli, portobello mushroom, white onion, and jalapeño. cooked in sunflower oil. served with instant yellow rice. Seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

I'm curious about what you guys on /ck/ think. How does it look? Would you eat this? What ingredients would you add or remove? I'm a novice cook, so don't be too harsh.

I would like to make it again but I think it's missing something. Some chicken or pork would definitely help, but I think it's missing something else.

Sorry for late

One chicken breast and tenderloin, skinless, cut into desired size.
First, toss in ap flour mixed with a HEAVY amount of desired seasoning. I used lawry's seasoning salt, fresh ground black peppercorns, and garlic salt.
Next, coat with beaten egg.
Then, coat in breadcrumbs; I used stater brothers brand for the fine crumb

Dunk in hot veggie oil until GBD. I didn't note cooking times, I can kinda just tell.

Fries were drenched, boiled in VERY VERY salty water and twice fried in veggie oil. No outside seasoning because the boil in salt water flavored them very well

Your fries are pretty shitty your not regulating temperature right tendies look crispy but I'm assuming 3 minutes after picture was taken they went soggy.

4/10 anon you have serious technical faults primarily on fry temperature and cutting your batons.

Cut then boil batons covered 22 minutes with 2 tablespoons of vinegar and salt.

Dry then fry at 325 for 1 minute 10 let them sit for 10 mins or freeze here for later.

Fry at 410°F 3 minutes for god tier fries.

Fry your tendies at 360 temperature drop will fry at a constant 350.

Pork chop guy here, I'm doing keto too. I can only speak for myself, of course, but I'm certainly interested.
As an aside, part of the reason I do keto is because I believe that while fat is indispensable as an element of flavor, carbs can be eliminated without much cost: consider the fact that starch is literally tasteless, and that many viable alternatives to sugar exist. I love mashed cauliflower as much as anything.

I don't really use recipes from specialized channels unless I want to do something crazy with cauliflower. I actually don't do crazy things very often in general; meat, faux-tatoes and veggies are generally good enough for me. I get most of my recipes/general cooking knowhow from mainstream channels sc. Cook's Illustrated, Epicurious, Allrecipes etc. Nomnompaleo is paleo which is, in my opinion, the retard's keto, but I regard the site fairly highly. Really though I just google "keto/low carb x replacement" if I want to do something that isn't traditionally low carb and if I find recipes from reputable sources I try them.

I came up with a pretty good sauce a few months ago.

4 tbs soy glaze
1 tsb rice vinegar
1/2 tbs sesame oil
1/2 tbs Mongolian fire oil (it's a chili cottonseed/sesame oil, essentially)

It comes out sweet, but with some vinegar to offset, and pretty hot with some boner-inducing sesame.

My dish, and I'm not in the least bit proud of it. It was just some left over bolognese sauce that was in the fridge for a couple of days, so the tomato content was reduced which is why I added a bit of ketchup. I'm not seeing the green but there was a tiny amount of spinach in there. I used mac noodles because they cook quickly and it was meant to be a snack.

Sorry if I talk too much but yeah. It was a tongue-in-cheek kind of dish/post.

Worked out not too bad, and learned a few things for next time. Need to rotate pizza after 6 - 7 minutes to keep crust from burning in the back (or change briquette arrangement) first pizza had a black spot on the back. The temperature drops off fast so each subsequent pizza takes longer to cook. Dome temp was 550 for first one and under 400 by the 3rd one.

I'll have to add more smoking wood chunks with each pizza. The first pizza had a great smokey taste, the second one tasted pretty much the same as if I had cooked it in an electric oven. I added some wood chips for the last pizza but they burnt up too quickly. Smoking chips are tricky to work with. Not hot enough, they don't smoke. Too hot they catch on fire and don't smoke. Messing with the coals is difficult once the grill is on even with the hinge on my grill.

I used a food processor for everything except the bacon so about 10 minutes prep and half an hour to bake.

This is the second time that I've salted the steak an hour before cooking it and it makes really big difference.
It definitely draws more moisture out of it so the final result isn't tough as leather like my usual efforts. This steak was over done but still much more tender than when I cook steak medium rare.

Gotta make a habit of doing this.

Fantastic! Thanx for the link. The only thing I can't eat (IBS) there is the onion so it's definitely doable. I'll probably use ginger instead.

Thanx again.

Chop it really thin.

Like REALLY really thin. Thing will melt and you won't feel the texture of it which I'm guessing is what you don't like about it.

Initially not salting it and then I graduated to salting it about a minute before cooking it. I had read somewhere that the options were either an hour before or a minute before.
I was suprised at the difference, tbh.

You can swap and change ingredients in it. The one I cooked tonight actually had a couple of yellow squash in it because I didn't have enough zucchini. I think I've seen other recipes with carrot.

Nah, mate. The easiest way to describe is like an allergy. Onions are incredibly high in oligosaccharides which are a short strain carbohydrate that feed bacteria in my intestines that cause all sorts of problems.

Not to worry. I can easily work around that single ingredient and use something else.

Are you just learning how to cook from scratch? Do you not have parents who can teach you? Why did it take research and experimentation to figure out that you should season your fucking food before cooking it, even if it's just salting a steak?

I've only been cooking for about six months now (excluding breakfast) and nobody has told me these things before. If I didn't have this IBS thing I'd probably still be dining out each night.

Made spinach and roasted garlic pizza.

Followed a dough recipe from here
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/mario-batali/pizza-dough-recipe.html

I also roasted the garlic before baking the pizza. Mashed the garlic after and then mixed in a bit of olive oil, salt, pepper, spinach, and the cheese. Topped with roma tomatoes, chopped onion, mushroom, and basil.

Stuffed the crust with mozzarella too

Here it is.
I decided to have garlic rice made with garlic and garlic greens rather than plain.
Also, I added too much amchur to the cabbage. It was really, really, REALLY sour. Still good, but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more sour than I expected. The bitter gourd (someone told me it's called bitter gourd, not frogmelon) egg curry was delicious, though. Pic related, but everything looks so greasy for some reason.

It's really easy to make. Just onion, chillie, the bitter gourd itself, lite sesame oil (or any veg oil, really), water, tomato juice or paste, stock cube, eggs, Sinhalese garam masala/black curry powder (though Indian varieties are fine, just not as strong-tasting) and turmeric powder.

You stir-fry the onion, chillie and cleaned gourd in oil, top off with water and tomato, simmer until soft, then add stock cube to taste.
Beat the eggs with the spices and stir in a ladle full of hot, stewed gourd mixture and its liquids at a time to temper the eggs.
When about half the gourd mixture is mixed into the egg, off the heat and stir it all back in the pan to thicken.
That's it. Takes all of 15 minutes.
Easily one of my favourite quick, homemade meals.
