I listen to music in my head.

Depends. Sometimes Modest Mouse. Maybe Death Cab for Cutie pops into mind. The Postal Service very seldom. Various soundtracks. Other stuff.

I developed a problem as a child where I had sounds and music playing in my head constantly and couldn't get it to stop. If I tried to suppress it and focused it would just distort and I'd get random shit that just looped over and over and over and over and over and over and over. Was distracting. I learned to focus on ambient sounds, and it would stop.

I don't know if I just got used to it, or if I learned to control it, but it got better. Retained the ability to reconstruct songs and sounds with a decent degree of fidelity. Perhaps not "bitexact", but close enough.

I never listen to music while cooking or in the kitchen
In fact I prefer to have everything silent except the sound of cooking when I cook
Just calming to me I guess

I listen to music from the region or era of the dish I'm cooking. Old Italian crooners for fresh pasta rollatini or braciole. Bachata reggaeton for fried fish tacos or plantains. Flamenco guitar for caldo verde and paella. Some kind of azn pop for pot stickers or noodle dishes. Dancehall reggae or country for grilling because that's usually about beer or liquor which I'll have in one hand while grilling. Etc, etc.

Just something about cooking with a glass of wine and Alicia Keys in the background belting it out. Really peaceful and therapeutic after a long day.

I love sea shanties in general, but when I put them on in my kitchen, it feels like I'm in the galley of a blackwall frigate, singing with the lads
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIwzRkjn86w

I guess I really just enjoy singing along to something while I cook. Irish tunes are good for that.

I like that first track but I typically hate Scottish/Irish music, and most stuff from the UK.
I do like this cover though. Nice song.

I mainly listen to female singer/songwriter stuff or folk with female vocalists. Some male stuff too if the lyrics feel right.

A lot of doom and sludge bands too. Heavy instrumentals can be great for relaxing and focusing on something aside from the music.

Snares. Mah nigga.

I like listening to jazz when I'm cooking. Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, entry level stuff.
When cleaning up I tend to go for higher BPM's to boost morale, usually breakcore or hardcore (as in gabber, not hardcore punk)
