i just brush them lightly with oil and put em in a hot pan and just roll them every minute or so. stabbing them with a fork just lets all the juices run out and dries em out. if your using some shitty oscar meyer bologna sticks it doesn't matter how you cook them.

Anyway, back on topic. I spiral cut my hot dogs and cook them in a pan with a tiny amount of oil until they get lightly charred. Putting them directly on the flame seems dumb.
